I figured its the setup at home. Hood homes are 2 bedrooms, usually with multiple siblings who have children. Women and kids take preference in bedrooms. They probably sleep on kitchen/dining room floors. They have no where to go during "awake" hours. Its packed at home not fun

It's all about the Time Value of Money (TVM) calculations:

r = 11% = 0,11 (Interest Rate)
n = 25 × 12 months (Duration of the Loan)
P = R1,975,000 (Purchase Price)

Then, that EMI (Monthly Payments) x 25 x 12 will give you that clean amount of R6,131,179 - which is 3,1 times the Purchase Price (ouch!)

But then, your house in 25 years' time, if you bought it in a fine LOCATION (LOCATION, LOCATION!), should be worth way more than that R6,1m. Then, this whole TVM concept will make sense!
