91% survival if caught at Stage 1.
14% if caught at Stage 4.
That difference is not luck.
It is not genetics.
It is not God’s plan.
It is time.
Time for the disease to grow.
Time nobody noticed.
Time the plate kept feeding it.
A doctor shared the warning signs this week.
Unexplained anaemia.
Changes in bowel habits.
Blood where blood should not be.
He is right.
Those are warning signs.
And if any of them appear, go to the hospital immediately. Not next week. Today.
But those signs usually mean something has already grown. Already formed. Already taken root inside the colon wall.
What I want to talk about is what allowed it to grow in the first place.
Twenty years before the first symptom.
Twenty years before screening.
Twenty years before anyone thought to check.
The colon is not just a tube. It is a living system. Trillions of bacteria live there. Some protect you. Some are neutral. Some can become harmful.
In a healthy gut, the protective bacteria are stronger.
They produce substances called short-chain fatty acids like butyrate, propionate, and acetate. These feed the colon wall, reduce inflammation, and help prevent abnormal cell growth.
Butyrate is especially important.
It is the main fuel for the cells lining the colon.
Without it, those cells become weaker.
They repair DNA damage less effectively.
They also become worse at destroying abnormal cells, a process called apoptosis.
So abnormal cells that should be removed survive. They grow. They build up over time.
What produces butyrate? Fibre. Especially fermentable fibre from real foods like vegetables, legumes, and whole tubers.
But what does a modern Nigerian diet often look like?
Bread.
Noodles.
Rice.
Processed starch.
Refined foods.
Very little fibre.
So the bacteria that produce butyrate start to die off.
The bacteria that feed on sugar and processed starch take over.
The gut balance shifts.
Protection drops.
The colon wall becomes weaker.
The conditions for disease begin to form.
Then add seed oils.
They increase inflammation and speed up cell turnover, which raises the chance of DNA errors over time.
Then add slow digestion.
Food stays in the colon for 48 to 72 hours instead of 18 to 24. That means longer exposure to irritants and more damage over time.
Then add sugar.
It raises insulin and IGF-1, which increase growth signals that abnormal cells can take advantage of.
Then add processed meat.
Nitrates can form nitrosamines, which can directly damage DNA in the colon lining.
Five main drivers. All in the food. All working quietly for years before any symptoms appear.
Low fibre weakens the colon wall.
Seed oils increase inflammation.
Slow digestion increases exposure time.
Sugar increases growth signals.
Processed meat causes direct DNA damage.
The doctor is right about screening at 45. It saves lives. That gap between 91% and 14% shows it clearly.
But screening only finds what has already been built.
If the diet does not change, screening becomes just an early picture of a problem that was developing for years.
So the real question is not just when to get screened.
It is what your daily meals have been building inside your body over the last twenty years.
Because what you eat at 25 can decide what exists in your colon at 45.

Pages of the Glorius Qur'ān today, Monday 8/6/26, Sūrah al-'Araf (7): 23-37, tafakkur verse 7: 33
Theme: The Comprehensive Prohibition of Evil and the Foundations of Righteousness
{قُلۡ إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّیَ ٱلۡفَوَ ٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنۡهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَٱلۡإِثۡمَ وَٱلۡبَغۡیَ بِغَیۡرِ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَن تُشۡرِكُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ مَا لَمۡ یُنَزِّلۡ بِهِۦ سُلۡطَـٰنࣰا وَأَن تَقُولُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ}
"Say, My Lord has only forbidden immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed - and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allāh that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allāh that which you do not know.".
LESSONS:
This verse summarizes some of the greatest sins that corrupt individuals and societies: immorality, sin, oppression, shirk, and speaking about Allah without knowledge. It teaches that true righteousness requires purity in belief, conduct, and speech.
1. Allah forbids both public and hidden immoralities; a believer must purify both conduct and intention.
2. Sin is not only what society condemns; it is whatever Allah has forbidden.
3. Oppression is forbidden in all forms, whether against Muslims or non-Muslims.
4. Shirk is the gravest violation because it gives Allah’s right to others.
5. Speaking about Allah without knowledge is dangerous; religion must be taught with evidence, humility, and caution.
O Allah, we ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and contentment. O Allah, purify our hearts from all immoralities, whether open or hidden, and keep us away from sin and unjust oppression. O Allah, protect us from every form of shirk, whether we know it or not, and do not allow us to speak about You except with truth. Our Lord, show us the truth as truth and grant us the ability to follow it, and show us falsehood as falsehood and grant us the ability to avoid it. Āmīn.
After giving birth, a woman's internal wounds take six months to heal, 12 months for physical recovery, two years for hormonal balance, and up to five years to rediscover her identity. Relationships frequently fail during this time due to a lack of understanding. Be kind and patient with new mothers; they are facing more challenges than it appears.
Tomorrow is Monday.
Fast if you are able to, if not earn reward by reminding others.
Remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers (Q51:55).
Baarakallahu Feekum.

If a woman is unable to fast on the Day of ʿArafah because of menstruation, she should never feel deprived or hopeless concerning the mercy and reward of Allah. In Islam, when a believer is prevented from a righteous deed due to a genuine Sharʿī excuse beyond their control, Allah may still grant them the reward based on their sincere intention.
The Prophet Muḥammad (ṣallāLlāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: “When a servant becomes ill or travels, Allah records for him what he used to do when healthy and resident.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī).
So if she genuinely intended to fast but was prevented by her period, she can hope for Allah’s immense reward through her sincerity and obedience.
She should increase herself in other acts of worship on the Day of ʿArafah, such as:
* abundant duʿā’,
* dhikr,
* takbīr (Allahu Akbar),
* tahlīl (lā ilāha illā Allah),
* seeking forgiveness,
* ṣalawāt upon the Prophet (ṣallāLlāhu 'alayhi wa sallam),
* charity,
* listening to Qur’ān,
* Islamic reminders,
* helping others,
* and avoiding sins.
The Day of ʿArafah is fundamentally a day of remembrance, humility, repentance and duʿā’. The Prophet (ṣallāLlāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: “The best supplication is the supplication of the Day of ʿArafah.” (Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī).
A menstruating woman can engage fully in duʿā’ and dhikr and may even spend the day more spiritually focused than some who are fasting physically.
She may repeatedly say:
Lā ilāha illaLlāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu al-mulku wa lahu al-ḥamd wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in qadīr.
She should also make heartfelt personal supplications for:
* forgiveness,
* guidance,
* family,
* the Ummah,
* peace,
* righteous children,
* protection,
* and success in this world and the Hereafter.
Allah is Most Just and Most Merciful. He does not punish a woman for something He Himself created as part of her natural condition, nor does He deprive sincere believers of His mercy because of circumstances beyond their control.

No amount is little. Kindly help donate and share—may Allah never leave you to your affairs.
Never neglect the Nawāfil under the excuse that they are not obligatory. The obligatory prayers are what Allāh has commanded from you, but the Nawāfil are among the greatest means of drawing nearer to Him, attaining His love, and rising above others in rank and devotion.
They beautify your obligatory acts, mend their shortcomings, soften the heart, and illuminate the soul. More importantly, they are a clear sign of sincere love and commitment to the Sunnah and the blessed path of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallāLlāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam). The lovers of Allāh never suffice with the minimum when the doors of nearness remain open.
You think you're an introvert because you like being alone. But in reality you just love being at peace. And you're actually extroverted around people who bring you peace.
