Trump spent years attacking the Iraq War.

Now he's floating something even more explicit.

On Fox News this morning, Trump said his "preference has always been" to take Kharg Island, Iran's main oil export terminal, because America could "make a fortune."

He then claimed:

"We did it with Venezuela."

Except we didn't.

The U.S. sanctions and licensing regime in Venezuela is controversial, but America did not seize Venezuelan territory or nationalize Venezuelan oil fields.

Trump is taking a sanctions program and describing it as if America conquered and took another country's oil.

And now he's using that claim to justify discussing an actual territorial seizure of Iran's primary oil export hub.

For years, Trump mocked nation-building.

Mocked endless wars.

Mocked Iraq.

Now he's talking about taking territory and taking oil.

The question isn't whether he said it.

The video speaks for itself.

The question is why the "America First" movement suddenly sounds like it's auditioning for the 19th century.
