Id say Malekith's movie was a lot worse but would be a much better choice since he's actually an important and significant character and not something they inserted into a super irrelevant time period to be used as a plot device for original sin

They did a whole past and future thing two seasons ago and all they did was send cyclops to the future to match the theme. If you want to keep this theme then the Mangog would have been a better choice.
