If anyone watches Industry and thinks “wow, that’s the life for me” that just means they’re a dimwit. It doesn’t mean the show is glorifying finance.

@Caste_Caste_ @wdavidmarx Exactly! Everybody gets preyed upon and exploited at some point, and any degree of power anyone achieves is shown to be very tenuous. Sure, some dimwits may be drawn to the money and glitz of the setting, but the show is clearly not portraying that as a good thing.

@deontewelton @BrendanWeathers I don’t think she spoke to Eric about it to curry favor, I think she is genuinely concerned. And it sounds like the rules she broke in speaking to peers in other divisions is the kind of rule designed to hide shady goings-on, so not really a sign of lack of character on her part

@oldenoughtosay I would hear the same argument from people when I was living in France, where I was technically undocumented for 3 months and worked illegally as a nanny before I got my student status & visa sorted out. So they would just blister and stammer and insist it was still different
