"Officially" I have never worked a day in my life.
"Unofficially" my job is 24/7
Do I have superannuation? No, why? Because being a family carer and SAVING the government $100000 is not recognised as a job. I love my mum which is the only reason I do what I do. @abcnews#Election
This #FederalElection the focus has been on employment and superannuation. This excludes many #carers who have fewer opportunities to balance employment and caring responsibilities and are unlikely to receive or have an ample superannuation balance. https://t.co/CVaoUukWen
I've been a carer for over 20 years & have only EVER had casual or part time employment so you can imagine what my super looks like. The economic impact on lifetime income & retirement savings of informal carers. #caringcostsus

@ahm don't consider a new diagnosis of sleep apnoea a "new" condition. Good for people on pensions who can not rely on the public system for their healthcare. With waiting times what they are in my state I would most likely be dead before treated. It's time for change #AlboForPM
Just found out that a "new" health diagnosis counts as a "pre-existing" health condition if your health insurer deems it so. Thanks @ahm for not caring. Trying to stay off the public system on a pension is breaking me #auspol#healthcare#mediscare#healthinsurance@Carers_SA /1
The Morrison Government and One Nation have done a deal to make it harder to vote at elections. Will you sign and demand politicians oppose any laws to undermine voting rights? via @GetUp https://t.co/F2q4FyUbb3
@militz_david Beyond frustrating. Mum is wearing a heart monitor and gets triggered by unknown men touching her. (He was very professional according to mum) but because of that she has a hazy idea of how to use the machine.
Well that was the first time a receptionist has denied me entry into one of my mums appointments. I am her carer I have every reason to be with her. 😡😡
As a younger sister of an adult autistic brother, I am appalled by the misrepresentation of autism in this movie. If this is how you see autistic people, you need to check yourself.

@Carers_SA@Mariannecares I will always look for helping young carers, because they are largely forgotten and I have been in their shoes. If you have any questions or ideas you want to run by me before the meeting feel free to hit me up.
I know I'm going to have keyboard warriors come in here and tell me that's not what young people should be worried about, but let me tell you 1 in 5 kids in a class room is a young carer, and just because it shouldn't be their responsibility doesn't mean it isn't. 2 of 2
Great to see young carers yet again being completely forgotten. Young carers rely on their phones to help do their job of looking after the person or persons they care for is actually okay, so they can focus on their study and still learn. 1 of 2 @abcadelaide@Carers_SA
