@karthiksubbaraj Thirunavukkarasu’s beautiful frames, the colours, the silences, the poetry in the shots, and Ilaiyaraaja’s divine music - it all felt so intimate and alive.
The last few minutes had me barely catching my breath. Thank you for giving us a masterpiece ❤️
Finally watched Dorothy last night, after eagerly waiting for it ever since it was announced. The whole film left me completely spellbound. By the end, I was just sitting there, overwhelmed with emotions, trying to process how deeply the film had moved me.
#Dorothy
@karthiksubbaraj sir - I’ve been an ardent fan of your work, mesmerized by Jigarthanda, fell even deeper in love with Iraivi, and your films have stayed with me for years. But Dorothy did something different to me. The way you’ve built this world,
I genuinely couldn’t come out of Karthi and Subbu’s world even after the film ended. I don’t remember the last time a film made me feel this much.
#Dorothy
To My Dear Audience,
It's #DorothyDay and though it's my 10th film, am as excited and nervous as i was on the day of release of my first film Pizza. The days i have spent making this film have changed me as a person, as a filmmaker , as an artist , as a human. This film is the most close to reality film i have made and it's the most emotional story i have told so far. This Story is based on lot of real incidents from the 90s and when i felt the need to tell this story out in the Mainstream, there was just one question that was asked often to me by many....
On what belief you want to make this film?
My Answer was and is ' My belief on the AUDIENCE '
And yeah the day has come where we, the team of #Dorothy is eagerly ready to show the film to the Audience, like how a kid shows its first painting to Parents... and yeah...
D O R O T H Y is all yours now....
Give a little space to her and she will touch your hearts for sure... ❤️
Please do watch our film in Theatres and I promise it will be Worth it...
I request you to avoid listening or reading any spoilers before watching the film. It will be an experience worth experiencing. Also Please do not give away any spoilers, post any clips of the film so that others also feel what you felt, in the same way.... 🙏🏻
With Huge love and respect,

modern parenting in a metro can feel like a very well furnished prison.
I know how that sounds. 3/4BHK (and EMI), cook, car, two incomes. Nobody is coming to feel sorry for anyone. But it still feels heavy.
my parents raised me where almost all neighbouring families knew my name. there was always some neighbour who cared to feed me lunch when mom was late. summers in grandparents' place. nobody was paid for any of it. that was the village. it was free and it was everywhere.
then folks (who are now in their late 30s/40s) moved to Bengaluru/Gurugram/Pune for work, kept the kids, and lost the village.
so now two adults run an operation that a dozen used to share. and the way you run it is : you buy the village back.
nanny, daycare, a school that picks up at 7 30 am and drops the kid back by 3-4pm, the extra bedroom for the grandparent/nanny.
get the drift? a kid in a metro costs more precisely because every hour of care that used to be free is now a line item.
the part I keep chewing on is the double income. it is not greed. it is the only way the math even works. but it comes with its own bill - two people on 9pm calls, family time under attack, and a mental load that no amount of hired help absorbs.
the alternative is one parent pauses. that pause usually lands on the mom. not because anyone sat down and chose it, but because the salary gap, the maternity leave, and the fifteen "who will pick up" moments a week all point the same direction. I don't think that is a choice families are making. it is a default the city hands them.
and the third option - grandparents move in - means two 68 year olds give up their friends, their evening walks, their own city, to be free labour in one they didn't pick.
every version costs someone. money, a career, presence, or a parent's retirement. there is no configuration where nobody pays. we just get to pick who.
Families raising kids in the cities are today one of the most under-served segments of society - they have all the comforts without the care young families need.
Tendulkar was a true great, but played for an increasingly self confident country on its way to becoming a cultural and economic superpower.
For most of his career Sunil Gavaskar batted for the self respect of a third world country and its despairing middle class whose ultimate ambition was a government job or a green card. The Sehwags, Gangulys and Dhonis who followed have given us ample reason to celebrate, but for most of his cricketing career Sunil Gavaskar would just make sure that millions could get up and face their bus or train commute the next morning.
Happy birthday Sunil Gavaskar.
You were the original rock.
🚶 BENGALURU'S FOOTPATHS ARE GETTING THEIR SPACE BACK
From July 1–10, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is running a 'Safe Footpath Campaign' across 1,000 km of road network — clearing encroachments from footpaths in all five city corporations.
📊 WHY THIS MATTERS
30% of every 1,000 road accident deaths in Bengaluru are pedestrians. The Supreme Court has been clear: walking on a footpath safely is a fundamental right, not a privilege.
🚫 WHAT'S BEING CLEARED
➡Illegal parking on footpaths (vehicles will be towed)
➡Name boards, chairs, tables, and kiosks blocking pedestrian paths
➡Vendors and shops spilling onto walkways
✅ HOW IT'S BEING DONE
➡Notices will be issued before any action — not a sudden crackdown
➡Action will follow the Street Vendors' Protection Act and SC guidelines
➡Municipal officers, police, and clearance teams will coordinate
➡Damaged slabs and kerbs will be repaired alongside clearance
It follows the #1KmChallenge encouraging people to walk short distances instead of driving — Bengaluru is trying to become more walkable, one footpath at a time.
🗣️ WE NEED YOUR EYES ON THE GROUND
Let's make Bengaluru's footpaths walkable again — together.

Edward Yang's Yi Yi tells the story of the human condition so well. In its ambitious attempt to portray the day to day, we witness tiny blips of devastation, ecstasy, rage, boredom, & embarrassment—things we all live through as well. I will foreverrrrrr love this film
A rule that will lower your anxiety: Don’t replay conversations you can’t change, and don’t pre-live ones that haven’t happened. Focus on the next right action. Most stress comes from living everywhere except the present.
Bong Joon-ho spent a full year writing MEMORIES OF MURDER (2003), and for the first six months he didn’t write a single page of the script. He only researched the real case. That obsession with detail is a big reason the film feels so authentic.
When you get a call to talk to the legendary Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, you just cancel everything and show up. At 94, this director is coming up with a Telugu film -- SING GEETHAM -- where all the lines are sung.
The latter part of the interview has Nag Ashwin @nagashwin7, who basically worked as an AD on this movie in between the two KALKI films. @VyjayanthiFilms
