i work at meta. hr systems. mostly comp processing. quiet job. stable. sometimes i daydream about retiring in portugal.

today a package hit my queue. base + bonus + equity. looks normal at first glance. then i open the details.

i stare at it like it’s a typo. check the name. triple check the level. researcher.

coolcoolcool. so now i have to enter this into workday.

i paste the first number, field throws an error.“value must be below $99,999,999.”
lol. okay. i try splitting it. base in one bucket, equity in another. nope. i try scientific notation. it rounds it down.

the system can’t HANDLE a billion dollars.

i call someone on payroll infra. tell them i’ve got a 10-digit comp packet. they think i’m joking. i forward the req. they go quiet.

“we’re gonna need to escalate this,” someone mutters.
“to who?” i ask.
“god, maybe.”

next thing i know zuck’s chief of staff is in the thread. now i’m in a thread with zuck. because of a number.

then i find out the guy declined the offer.
just said no. no negotiation. no counter. just… no.

i’ve been maxing out my 401k for 11 years & this man said no to a billion dollars like he was skipping dessert.

i close the ticket. delete the draft.
go for a walk.

& then i rethink everything.

I don't think India had entered War, to begin with.

India maintained from start after hitting 9 Terror Camps that it will respond to Pak action. It continued to do so with increased ferocity everyday.

If in under 72 Hours, it was hitting CAD & such installations, all the while maintaining that it is only responding to Pak Aggression, without entering War, so much so that US pressed Panic Button and China had to assure Pakistan of supporting its Sovereignty, then we really need to understand that we are talking about a radically new strategy that has given jitters to US and China.

Pakistan's fragile integrity is exposed. Baloch Independence declaration could be a kick in their teeth that might set a chain reaction is motion.

US and Chinese Hardware underperformed, and that is clear. Stuff that rarely gets put to test. India's indigenuous production of Drones on the other hand was shining. So if you look at the War Market, US and China had another reason to Panic.

Prime Minister @NarendraModi has not spoken yet, he is letting everyone say their piece, at this point he is one man who knows everybody else's break-point by now.

Internally, you see only an Everest in Indian Politics. There is not second highest mountain here. Other Political parties are reduced to Social Media Trolling. Remembering Indira, forgetting Nehru, ignoring Rajiv...

And Armed Forces Veterans have to accept that they don't know this game at all. This was never played during their time. But their successors seem comfortable. They got a chance to try theories that never saw light of day and felt the fresh air.

And nothing has stopped. A wheel is set in motion. Military, Intelligency, Diplomacy, Economy...all will remain in motion.

The more explicit Political and GeoPolitical success will be seen in coming 3-6 months. Some will anticipate, some will accept, some will continue to deny because it doesn't match their world view.

We are clear about one thing - we are not seeing rise of a Porus or Prithviraj Chauhan... enemy will be disintegrated for a long time to come.
