@FAOMalawi is providing financial grants to beekeepers & building their capacity under AFR100, building on AREECA & DSL-IP interventions which benefited 1 009 beekeepers.
Through #AnticipatoryAaction, FAO is helping farming communities act before disaster strikes, using early warning information to deliver timely support in form of cash & agriculture inputs, reducing the impact of climate shocks on people, livelihoods & food systems.
Knowledge & skills are key to restoration work.

Over 700 000 agricultural households in Malawi require emergency agricultural livelihood assistance. The Southern and Central regions are the most affected. Almost all households that need support require crop inputs.

Secretary for Agriculture Erica Maganga, today launched the Africa Phytosanitary Programme, where FAO & @ippcnews will help the country transition to digital pest surveillance – improving early detection, boosting compliance with global standards, & opening doors for safer trade.

Through the Africa Phytosanitary Programme, FAO and @ippcnews are training 45 phytosanitary officers in digital surveillance for;

Today, @FAO, NSO & @WorldBankGroup launched the 2025 National Census of Agriculture Findings. The findings are critical for evidence-based policy formulation, investment planning, & monitoring of development strategies. @FAO provided financial & technical support to the process.
An inception workshop to officially launch the MELBA Malawi project is underway in Lilongwe. FAO, @MalawiGovt, @UN & various development partners are discussing implementation arrangements & key priorities, setting the tone for effective implementation of the new project.
Malawi Government, FAO in collaboration with @UNEP , @WHOMalawi and @WOAH have convened in Lilongwe for a workshop to initiate development of the #OneHealth National Action Plan.

Soil sustains life.
In 2026, @FAOMalawi, through the AFR100 project, will target 550 ha of land with #soilhealth improvement interventions. FAO will work with communities to promote recommended practices such as the use of organic manure and agroforestry.

The 5yr project closed having put 5873.5 ha of land under restoration.
