A link: Click> Game page.
A link does more so it's value not irrelevant.
we already said a namedrop is crediting. You're saying that's all that's needed to support a game you profit from. Prove it.
@zodiac6995@Roses4Azrael@fyridk Why not? You talked about how the only reason they can't find the game on google is laziness, but you also don't recognise that same flaw when the creator doesn't put the link in. If naming counts as credit, why is that all they need to do? Prove it.
@zodiac6995@Roses4Azrael@fyridk No it wasn't. It was about the value of linking, you yourself argued this.
So tell me why a name drop is all they need to do? I've already shown that linking does more and is effortless and you've already agreed that less people reach the game without one. Why is that irrelevant
@zodiac6995@Roses4Azrael@fyridk Even granting that naming the game counts as credit, it isn't enough to properly support a game you profit from. Putting a link is what's responsible, especially when it's so easy. Not doing so adds friction between watching the video and supporting the devs with a purchase.
@zodiac6995@Roses4Azrael@fyridk Can a person find a cafe without a map? Yes. Are they less likely to? Yes. Should a creator leave a link to a game they profit on? Yes. Does it cost them to put one in? No. You're done arguing the point and now trying to avoid it because you don't want to admit you're wrong.
@zodiac6995@Roses4Azrael@fyridk "Doesn't matter, less people do." Oh wow so you agree less people get to the game if there isn't a link! Additionally when the games main draw is the story, a video on the game by itself actually hurts sales(A proven fact). So, basically, Toby's right.
@zodiac6995@Roses4Azrael@fyridk Arguing semantics literally don't matter. If you're making money off the game the right thing to do is to put a link in the description, so those people that are exposed to the game actually buy it.
@zodiac6995@Roses4Azrael@fyridk Nope. Engagement drops when you add extra steps.

Here's proof.
Also, you're not a game dev, mattpatt isn't a dev, toby fox is, and if someone whos an actual dev is saying just dropping the name isn't enough then your definition of "credit" doesn't matter.
@zodiac6995@Roses4Azrael@fyridk Naming the game isn't a credit, it's context for the video. The harm is that forcing viewers to hunt down a title drop off traffic and kills sales. A link is the only way to actually pay back the creators of a game you're making money off of.
