@DrewSav I find all of Genesis to be incredibly moving. The story of Joseph is incredible and it ends with this wonderful little ironic callback as Jacob blesses Joseph's younger son rather than the older echoing his stealing of the blessing from Esau.
@roddreher Brave New World would be a step up in governance. They recognized a number of problems and addressed them with policy. Created a stable regime with little war and violence where people were happy. Dissenters were treated humanely.
@mikitaposts Say what you will about Eastern European regimes, they did seriously give Communism a go and that meant confronting material realities that western leftists want to handwave away.
@LinkofSunshine People confuse the 18th century founders with the 19th century politicians who were a reaction to them. Jefferson would’ve been thrilled. His white planter descendants would not have been.
@CapelLofft I blame "data analysis." Any good training in econometrics will tell you its incredibly hard to do, but the modern world is filled with charlatans purportedly isolating causes in search of an easy button to press while ignoring the hidden benefits of intuitive practice.
