No gospel in sight…
Bro couldn’t bring himself to tell his members that it’s a sin to sleep with married men….and they will bring the wrath of God upon themselves..
He’s talking about psychological issues.
Motivational speakers, that’s what most of you are…
Everyday we see why the bible says not many should become teachers.
There is a proliferation of shallow, ignorant, money chasing, and crowd pleasing men on our pulpit.
We are raising belivers that don't even know christianity 101,they think they are gods, and God needs them.
Gm
Pastors what are you feeding your members.
Please teach people the true gospel, teach them about how to deal with suffering as believers.
Leave garbage.
Dude knows his church is filled with degenerates that's the only reason why you can preface an advice with the psychological effect of dating married men, not that dating married men is evil and outrightly wrong 😂.
In the whole "men dey" clip, I wanna focus on the pastor and say this.
Bolaji Idowu isn't a biblical and godly example of what it means to be a pastor and steward of God's sheep and God will judge him severely if he doesn't repent.
I said what I said.
"When you are a young girl that is dating married men, you are committing a grievous sin against God".
See pastor Bolaji, see how simple it was to type, that's how direct the Bible is on the topic. It is not simply a bad decision with psychological effects, it is sin against the triune holy God.
Pastors need to get comfortable with calling sin what it is. God's commands are not simply suggestions that have utility. They are COMMANDS to be followed!
You can use the psychological effect of a sin as a way to buttress the point, but that should only be after you have called it out as sin---rebellion against God.
But then, God has to be a big deal in your church first for that kind of preaching to have any effect.
Sorrows sorrows.
That example he started with, talking about dating older, richer married men is so wrong for pulpit admonition. It should be generally assumed that converted Christian women don't date married men.
Secondly, what congregation with itching ears. The first thing to address is what happens in so called "dating" relationships for a Christian. Because how is a child of God demanding and taking monetary gifts from someone they've not married, and saying it loudly like this? Like, "anytime you ask him for money," ask him for money as what? Just reckless abandon.
Christian sisters that I know used to gauge a man's generosity by his willingness to give gifts without being asked... So things like special days, return from trips... A sister, should not be out, bear chested asking someone she's not married to for money.
You're putting on him marital responsibilities, and you're making it easy for him to ask for marital rights, and putting yourself in a place where it becomes negotiable. That's the issue with all these dating thing especially those who are not well thought what it means to be practical Christians.
Lastly, "men dey," the question is where? Because apparently it's not in church if that church is a true church. Normally, by nature, young men, I mean late 20s to mid-30s are not wealthy, at least for luxurious living. There are outliers, but most times, especially in this country, and especially those who are professing Christians.
So where are the men? Anakogheri 🤧
Naivety and gullibility is why you think "praying people back to life" has ever been a normative thing at any point in Christian history.
Not in the days of the prophets, nor in the days of the Apostles was raising the dead back to life a normative thing. There aren't even up to 10 cases of the dead being prayed for and raised to life in the Bible (OT and NT combined).
This childish stuff I see people say online about how if they die, their friends will pray them back to life or their friends won't "release" them is just a juvenile detachment from reality. When you die, you will more than likely remain dead.
Can the miracle of the dead being raised to life still happen, of course yes, God hasn't changed, but like it has never been something anywhere close to being normative, it won't become normative today.
Christians should rather learn to see death how the Bible sees it, the inevitable end from this vain world and a uniting with our Lord and Saviour. For to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
This is what Nigerians across all levels don’t understand. We are not all going to get rich, the chance is even slighter in this climate. But we all deserve a decent life, and for that, we must have functioning systems & institutions.
Christianity solves this. (you may think I am merely trying to ragebait you, but I mean it).
Christianity gives you the tools for a healthy self-image, to be both self aware, yet self-forgetful. You ask how? Here it is.
The Christian is one who is totally convinced that God owns them, loves them deeply before the foundations of the world, has chosen them, and so they cannot despair about their looks because they have found ultimate acceptance.
Second, because the Christian knows that their body is the temple of God's spirit as God no longer inhabits relics and physical temples, they are moved to take care of their bodies, stay away from gluttony, regulate their diets, exercise more to the best of their abilities, and because of point 1 above, it doesn't crush them to the depths when they fail at it.
Lastly, the Christian is self-forgetful. The Christian could care less what the matrix of this world is. He/she knows they are doing their best (laziness included), but they also know that worldly acceptance is not ultimate acceptance, and so they can self-abandon (not a bad word within this context). This means they do not judge themselves too harshly, and when they judge themselves/others judge them, it is comforting enough within their matrix to motivate them to act, not to despair about themselves.
They're not imbe or imbeciles. They have cerebral palsy.
They were not used by their parents. They have autism.
They are not mad. They have rubella syndrome.
They're not disfigured. They have Down syndrome.
Disabled people are people too and they deserve respect as well.
I put it to you that a supernaturally changed heart cannot perceive tribe and tongue. Only Christianity gives you the emotional and spiritual basis to love all of mankind without care for their creed or color.
Problem is that some of you Christians are not convinced God loves you, that's why you pray the way you do, because you hope that the intensity guarantees acceptance.
You are not a stranger to God if you have his Spirit, stop manipulating someone that already calls you his own.
The Gospel changes everything. If you believe EVERYONE is IMAGO DEI, as in having the very image of God, it changes everything.
1. You will denounce tribalism/racism.
2. You will see all peoples as valuable irrespective of your biases.
3. You will not think less of yourself because you are from a racial minority
4. You will not anchor your ethnic/tribal/racial group as superior.
5. You will not be able to harm anyone or group of people from another racial group.
6. You will have a healthy self image, a radically better view of yourself, andd a perfect anchor for your identity.
Again, because Christians think out the implications of what they believe, there's no way you can be a Christian and be racist/tribalist, it's not compatible with your faith.
It’s not a coincidence that Jesus had to suffer.
It’s not a coincidence that the Lord of glory had to weep.
It’s not a coincidence that Jesus was tempted in every way but was “yet without sin.”
If God who took on human flesh had to suffer, and even weep, then know this…
