I’m annoyed because I’ve been saying this for years. I’m not worried about AI in movies, I’m worried about studios continuing to pay A-list actors ridiculous amounts to play roles that should be going to lesser known actors…had to throw that in there 🫣

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
People WANT to go to the movies but the market is oversaturated.
So those of us NOT hanging out on yachts have to plan where we spend our money.

Leonardo DiCaprio wonders if "people still have the appetite" for movie theaters and worries cinemas may become very niche, "like jazz bars":
“We’re looking at a huge transition. First, documentaries disappeared from cinemas. Now, dramas only get finite time and people wait to see it on streamers. I don’t know.”

If these folks are scared or mad it’s because THEY aren’t putting in the work to meet their audiences where they are. I know it’s possible because I saw the advertisements for Sinners. I saw all of the videos Ryan Coogler (& the studio) did to support it.

And honestly, maybe it would’ve been but I didn’t know it existed.
Where are studios advertising their movies? I only see ads when I’m already AT the movies.
If you know everyone has streaming services, isn’t it worth advertising on the home page and apps?

We’re saving our money for Sinners. Black Panther. The Dark Knight.
The last two are superhero movies, sure, but they were FILMS. Old school Oscar worthy.
One Battle After Another was reallyyy good but it wasn’t worth leaving my house for.

@Aku_700@GavinNewsom If we taxed billionaires just SLIGHTLY more than than the nothing they pay now and distributed that to the other 99%, our economy would actually boom.
Saying thank you in 45 seconds or less just won’t do. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU, @natebargatze , for including the Club Kids in such an unforgettable night. Your generosity and jokes made it magic; and we’re beyond grateful to be part of it. 💫❤️ #Emmys2025
