I just feel like it's ridiculous to think it necessary at all, it would most certainly be a waste of taxpayers money, it would put more people in orbit in danger, and it would at best cause escalation with other nations. It's the opposite of reducing reasons for war.

Real talk about this #SpaceForce BS I have questions. Why? There's no military operating in space and it's illegal to put WMD's in orbit or on the moon, and you can't build military installations on the moon per the Outer Space Treaty. Trump probably doesn't care? Fine, follow up

Sure it may not pierce the hull but if it hits anything vital or starts a fire or causes any number of leaks those are serious risks as well. Systems in a space station are delicate, and without gravity a bullet isn't simply going to stop when it hits something.
