70-80% of startup investments in Africa are in Fintechs. Last year Zimbabwe received Zero investments in this area despite the many startups trying to break through in Fintech and the obvious need for fintech solutions in Zim.
Who will decide who can and cannot disrupt their own system. That's where fintech dies in Zim. The hurdles between Bank and first customer are too much and take a very long time. All startups know that starting a business is a race to getting first customers, nothing else.
How did it take them 6 months and still fail to get the license. If fintech is soo challenging for listed brand like Simbisa, what more for an unknown, unfunded startup. Because fintech in Zim should be built via traditional banking, it means are will be gate keepers...
