I'm thrilled and honored to announce my new role with Epic Games – joining as the VP/General Manager of Epic Games Store and Epic Online Services. I'm excited to get started with the team delivering new capabilities that elevate player, creator and developer experiences. And I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to play a role in shaping an open and sustainable gaming ecosystem.
Here's our exclusive interview with Tim Sweeney (and a bit of Steve Allison) on Epic Games' settlement with Google and the return of Fortnite worldwide on Android. We got Tim's response to reactions about the benefits for game developers and his thoughts on why Epic decided to settle after six-plus years.

Apple is the only company with a great proposal here: let parents, who buy the devices used by kids, set up kids accounts and decide what they're allowed to do, then pass those decisions to apps through parental controls -- without demanding anyone's identity papers.
@sarahelhairy@EpicGamesFR@FortniteFR I look forward to continuing the discussion. France was an incredible host for the global championship! Merci beaucoup!
Here's my conversation with Tim Sweeney (@timsweeneyepic), a legendary video game programmer, founder and CEO of Epic Games that created the Unreal Engine, Fortnite, Gears of War, Unreal Tournament, and many other groundbreaking and influential video games.
It's here on X in full, and is up everywhere else (see comment).

I spent many hours with @TimSweeneyEpic and others in Epic Games about why anyone would want a metaverse, and their vision for it.
Tech wants to improve the "meeting." Epic Games wants to improve the social and play experience.

Korea is first in open platforms!
Korea has rejected digital commerce monopolies and recognized open platforms as a right.
This marks a major milestone in the 45-year history of personal computing. It began in Cupertino, but the forefront today is in Seoul.
For years, Apple & Google have owned the rails of our app economy—exercising gatekeeper control of the multi-billion dollar market to privilege their own apps & take hefty commissions from third-party developers. It's time to break their ironclad grip.
