Gary Woodland wins. That’s an incredible sentence, considering in the seven years since his U.S. Open victory he’s undergone brain surgery and dealt with PTSD. Not many players would be that vulnerable. And not many would be celebrated for a victory as much as him. What a story.

Not one of the 387 questions from my kids today was: Dad….can I ask you a question….why would ANYONE suggest the tournament field should expand when the bubble is this impossibly lousy? But, it would have been a great question if they did.
