Remember when Playstation Network was down for an extended time and players couldn't access their entire digital library even for paid, single player and playable offline games?
Even if we don't actually own the license buying physically, there are still far more merits to it 🙏
Heads up. Sony/PlayStation are taking down any posts on Reddit which prove that they're lying about the physical vs digital sales comparisons and skewing the numbers 👌
Reminder that ANYONE:

Physical media forever🫡
A digital only future with shit like this around is bleak. Not only will you not own anything, but Sony can raise prices on a whim and you won’t even have the option to get used games or even borrow games from people anymore. This is strictly anti-consumer from every angle.
🚨UPDATE: The narrative surrounding Valko’s cancellation in Love and Deepspace has shifted.
According to players, both the Chinese and global communities are now protesting Valko’s removal after claims that much of the original backlash stemmed from a coordinated misinformation campaign. The reports also state that those behind the campaign have since admitted to it, prompting renewed calls for Infold to reconsider the decision.
Sony's stupidity, short sightedness and arrogance on this matter is staggering in ways that I can barely get my head around.
You're seriously telling me that someone who makes these PR decisions thought it was a good idea to reveal this mere WEEKS after the publicity surrounding the court case against them over the fact they regularly charge £70 for a "digital licence" for a glorified game rental that they can revoke whenever they feel like it AND an actual real world example of this happening with 500 digital movie purchases being delisted/revoked.
They think they're bulletproof at this stage but this is gonna have massive financial implications for them. I have spoken to five people today of my Playstation collecting friends and have many more still to talk to. ALL of them have said this was the final nail in the coffin and they're dropping Playstation going forward. Some aren't even waiting until the cut off date for physical in Jan 2028.
Citing "consumer trends" is bullshit. It's price fixing. They want you to pay around £70 for a game you don't own so they can take it back. They don't want ownership of discs to be a thing anymore because they can't control pricing on it and can't resell it to you a few years later, simple as that.
Then there's the separate issue of them effectively telling us they don't give a damn about preservation either.
Xbox is moving away from consoles so they aren't gonna be an option anymore. We can still get SOME physical switch games where 100% of the game is on card but it kinda feels like in a world where digital is becoming pushed increasingly it's gonna be Steam who come out on top. At least they (along with GOG) have a contingency plan to guarantee you can play your library without online authentication.
I'm gonna finish off the gaps in my collections for franchises I've exclusively collected on Playstation and then I'm done. I'll probably go pre-owned just so they don't get any more of my money as well.
I guess I'm collecting retro and switch only physically from now on and waiting for Steam sales for everything else.
Think I'll spend my physical sony money going forward for games I WOULD have bought on PS5 on the Neo Geo AES Plus instead and some lovely physical games that can't be taken back 😎
1995 to 2026 was a good run but I guess the dream is dead.
Pictured: SOME of my PS4/5 collection (PS1-3 and PSP/Vita is elsewhere in the house) I'd envisaged this getting a LOT bigger than it's gonna get. Oh well.

BREAKING NEWS: Love and Deepspace hits catastrophic new low in terms of reception Globally!
It dropped from 4.4* to 2.2* overnight, and now has over 100,000 negative reviews from players as of 10AM, July 1st, 2026. This is the worst the game has been received since its inception.
Global players have begun to review bomb the game, leaving MILLIONS of negative reviews everywhere.
Infold and Papergames have, after their public address, went even further and absolutely NUKED every instance of Valko from their Youtube channel. No trailers, no livestreams, no YT shorts, nothing.
Naturally, this has upset even more players, as they're trying to sweep any and every instance of his existence under the rug, almost like he never existed.
This is TRAGIC. Completely disrespectful to their players, to their developers that invested YEARS of their time into creating him. What a waste.
To think: A lot of this could've been avoided if they'd just released a roadmap of some sort in advance.
Crazy how brainwashed people are by capitalism?? Obviously less choices for consumers is BAD because it only benefits the corporations! Not being able to access games without internet is bad. No resell value on second hand is bad. No used games is bad. No physical media is BAD.
take this as a sign to build up a physical library again guys. that goes for games, books, movies and music. we literally don't own anything anymore. these subscriptions are piling up. i'm sick of it.
