MASSIVE ERUPTION BLASTS ASH 50,000 FEET ABOVE VANUATU

Something powerful just unfolded over the South Pacific.

Ambae volcano unleashed a major eruption, blasting ash roughly 50,000 feet into the atmosphere. That’s nearly 10 miles high.

Satellite imagery detected the enormous plume along with a strong sulfur dioxide signal spreading from the volcano.

Ambae was already at Alert Level 3, with recent ash plumes reaching around 15,000 feet.

This one went more than three times higher.

The eruption prompted authorities in Japan to assess possible tsunami effects. So far, no tsunami impact has been confirmed.

🔥 RING OF FIRE 🫨: A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck Peru on Thursday amid a recent stretch of powerful earthquakes along the Pacific Ring of Fire and nearby plate boundaries. The quake follows a magnitude 7.7 near Indonesia last week, a magnitude 7.4 in Colombia earlier this month and a magnitude 7.5 in Venezuela in June, according to the USGS.

M6.3 earthquake strikes south of the Kermadec Islands, New Zealand
A magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred south of the Kermadec Islands at a depth of 226 km, making it a deep-focus earthquake.
Because of its great depth, this event was caused by movement within the subducting Pacific Plate as it descends beneath the Australian Plate along the Kermadec–Tonga subduction zone, one of the most seismically active regions on Earth.
Deep earthquakes like this are often felt over a wide area but typically produce less surface shaking than shallow earthquakes of the same magnitude and are unlikely to generate a tsunami.
The Kermadec-Tonga trench regularly produces both deep and shallow earthquakes due to the rapid convergence of these tectonic plates, making continued seismic activity in the region expected.
