People say the South is losing the interest of her young men, but this says "We are the one and only active collegiate camp in the SCV. We are active and growing, and encourage all young men who are attending the Citadel to join while here!"
Many congratulations to them all 🥂
@BockBockBucock@proudsouthron Personal experience, current cadet here. They took all the flags down from the chapel for “cleaning” and because they have done a lot of renovations to the chapel. The chapel is supposed to have all 50 states as well as the 3 in the photo above, but all are down now.

*Average Shelby Foote scene on Ken Burns' Civil war*
"Uh so heeere we see Captain Mellifluence Beauregard Johnson Johnston III a.k.a 'big shot' (top of his West Point class, heir to vast plantation estate) bravely leading his diminished company of 37 barefoot emaciated men against the fresh onslaught of vicious Union artillery. He went to be with the lord at 6:42 PM crowned with the resplendent rays of the setting sun."
@JohnnyReb1989 And if you then get interested in the real history you can go “wow that movie wasn’t accurate, anyway I’m going to go read nonfiction accounts and biographies now” and learn more than if the movie never existed to get you interested. God bless Braveheart and The Patriot
@JohnnyReb1989 So with movies like Braveheart or The Patriot, I can appreciate them for getting people interested in those parts of history and conveying the emotion and attitudes of the time so even if it’s not a history lesson, you understand the emotional weight of what happened
@stagkingbob@JakeBequette91 Had there be a stalemate during the 1864 election, McClellan’s campaign would have gotten a lot more traction and him winning the presidency would have been the best outcome for the South because McClellan just wanted the war over and would’ve sought peace.
@stagkingbob@JakeBequette91 If that had happened and the Union was put on defense for longer the South having the region and supply lines would have lengthened the war. Plus if the Union was “losing” (the Union would be considered as losing even in a stalemate due to the nature of the war)…
