@jmatthew42 British history evolved from intertribal warfare to the rule of law on its own. Britain also outlawed slavery on its own. When did First Nations end intertribal warring & slavery. And why? History is fascinating. And it’s based on observable fact.
@SyilxConnection Does “history” include First Nations intertribal slavery pre-contact? Or is that not an acceptable truth in the more than one truth paradigm?
@SyilxConnection Hah! Like I said, it’s too bad you missed those old colonial ideals like rational argumentation. But hey, enjoyed the jousting. Maybe we can get into a more substantive debate someday?
@SyilxConnection Thanks for the real life demo of why activists are losing so badly. The fiction is your perverse & vindictive framing of history. I’m sure it makes you feel powerful but you think it’s a successful tactic? I wish you had the benefit of my teachers, tbh. You’d choose differently.
@SyilxConnection It’s not a thesaurus, it’s great teachers. And pithy fictional First Nations won’t amount to spit given how activists such as you argue. Public sentiment is changing dramatically, irrevocably, & for good reason. Rewriting history never ends well regardless of spin.
@SyilxConnection Realpolitik, not a moral flex. First Nations only moved past intertribal warring as a dispute resolution mechanism when the British began to rule. FN were literally FORCED to not kill & enslave other tribes. Intertribal First Nations warfare was a time immemorial practice, no?
@SyilxConnection Canada exists - like any nation - because it has the sole authority to exercise physical violence against its residents. And yes, thanks to the useless @SCC_eng, our “rights” are more privilege than right. Warring Indian bands in “time immemorial” is better than democracy?
@SyilxConnection It’s a democracy. Without the goodwill of our fellow citizens it will not go well. When all is said & done rights depend completely on the will of the people. Challenge that at your peril.
@CHEK_News@CHEK_News’s 2026 journalism: speaking truth to power? Nah, justifying the exercise of power. Legacy media sure works hard to earn that label.
@SyilxConnection@SyilxConnection “The public has been trained to think access means ownership.” So BC’s DRIPA is wrong then? “Used” isn’t aboriginal title?” It’s almost like words are entirely subjective. You do realize this only diminishes FN?
@Polysesouvient@rcmpgrcpolice What? @Polysesouvient is straight up lying now? “Domestic guns are a bigger one?” People have policy differences, sure, but if arguments degenerate into falsehoods your entire position will end up being wrong, & discredited. Why on earth would you do that?
@tell92829@SyilxConnection And even if one grants the notion of “indigenous law” it only applies to a “nation” of a few hundred people & was readily & regularly violated by force by neighbouring “nations.” This isn’t law by a normal civil standard.
