๐ข Grave Matters call for speakers 2023! ๐ข
Are you a death studies scholar or enthusiast? Could you speak at a future (virtual) Grave Matters seminar?
Read on ๐งตfor more details and please RT far and wide! 1/6
I enjoyed the @TerrorTalesof conference too much to do any live tweeting, but one of the signs of a brilliant conference is a successful book haul ๐
It became very clear to us at #FiresideTalesofTerror that the Valancourt volumes of Victorian Christmas ghost stories (edited by one of our speakers Christopher Philippo!) were indispensable to many of our scholars.
And a lovelyChristmas gift!

@Cat_Liberace @DeathandDolls @Jendeavour Sorry we didn't get to chat more! The perils of being an organiser! But thank you so much for coming and sharing your work and so glad you had a great time :)
Massive thanks to @TerrorTalesof Fireside Tales of Terror conference organisers @Jendeavour and @DeathandDolls for running such a great conference and inviting me to be one of the keynotes alongside @monicagermana. Lots of fascinating papers and enthusiastic young scholars!
What a wonderful Goth Christmas this had been! Listening to - whatโs the collective noun for Gothicists? - talk on mummies, ghosts, vengeful trees, spooky eels, ice queen fashion, yule cats and much more! Thank you @DeathandDolls and @Jendeavour for making this happen! โ๏ธ๐๐ป๐ฅถ

A Gothic Yuletide to one and all!
Truly proud to have been a part of this panel! Fantastic papers from @pietersender and @DrGothicBodies, and some really interesting questions from the in-person audience as well. Simpsons, Robin Hood, John Carpenter, Fromsoft - what more can you ask for?
Our second Keynote and final speaker (!) for the conference is @monicagermana taking us to terrifying winter wonderlands and promising we will be terrified by arctic mermaids and sea creatures by the end
