The error of those who think they are in themselves greater than the old testament prophets is HUGE.
Matthew 11:11 does not mean any such thing.
What does it mean?
Matthew 11:11
I tell you the truth: John the Baptist is greater than any other man who has ever lived. But even the least important person in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John.
It simply means that believers have received in Christ, what none of the Old Testament prophets could receive, namely salvation.
See 1 Peter 1:10-12
See Hebrews 11:39-40
Hebrews 11:39
And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise,
Hebrews 11:40
God having PROVIDED SOMETHING BETTER FOR US, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.
That's the meaning of the Christian being GREATER than Old Testament saints in their DISPENSATION.
John did not partake of the church age. He was never born again.
Yet Jesus says he was greater than every other person - including Moses, Daniel, Noah, Adam, Elijah, Enoch and David!
How? Follow me.
It's like the government starts building a university in your grandpa's time but neither he nor your dad gets admission because they are all too old by the time it's completed, but you get to be the first person in your family to go to the university.
It means IN A SENSE you're greater than your forebears because what they saw and told you about, but could not partake of - you are. NOW experiencing.
It does not mean you are ACTUALLY greater than them.
Matthew 13:16
"But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;
Matthew 13:17
"for assuredly, I say to you that MANY PROPHETS AND RIGHTEOUS MEN desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
THAT IS WHAT IT MEANS OOOOOOOOOO.
And it is explained right there...in Matthew 11:11 - 13
Why was John the Baptist the greatest?
Was he really greater than Abraham or Moses or David?
Not really. Not in faith. Not in works.
In what sense then? He WAS CLOSER TO JESUS THAN THEY ALL. He was closer to the kingdom. He was the closest prophet to the new testament.
What they saw from AFAR. He beheld at CLOSE quarters. What they announced, he heralded
Whereas Moses said - Another Prophet like me will God raise
Whereas Isaiah said - A virgin shall conceive...unto us a Child is born...who has believed our report?
John said - BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD...!
That's all.
So VERSE 13 says - all the law and prophets were till John
VERSE 12 says - from the days of John, a new dimension has begun
John was the CLOSEST, and in that sense the greatest.
Believers are partakers, and in that sense greater than those who could not partake, including John.
That's what Matthew 11:11 means.
It DOES NOT MEAN you can correct prophets
It DOES NOT MEAN you can reject their revelation
Only a high ranking demon can inspire a Christian to do such nonsense (pardon my spanish)
It DOES NOT MEAN your Spirit is a higher Spirit😃
Look at 2 Corinthians 4:13
And since we have THE SAME SPIRIT OF FAITH, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak
Where was that gotten from? The Psalms.
Psalm 116:10
I believed, therefore I spoke, "I am greatly afflicted."
Paul is telling the church - we have the same spirit of faith they had, we have THE SAME FAITH.
Please stay away from error.
God bless you!
OSAS: Pastor, I offended my wife yesterday
PASTOR: Wow. What happened?
OSAS: I shouted on her angrily during a simple argument
PASTOR: Okay, how are things between you two?
OSAS: She is good. We are fine.
PASTOR: You mean she is not angry with you?
OSAS: No Pastor. She has already forgiven me.
Pastor: But did you apologize to her for shouting?
OSAS: No sir. There's no need for that.
PASTOR: As how? You mean you did not address the wrong way you spoke to her?
OSAS: No sir. Confession does not mean repentance. It does not guarantee forgiveness.
PASTOR: Ah. What are you saying, Osas?
OSAS: What I do or fail to do cannot affect my marriage.
PASTOR: But do you feel sorry about what you did?
OSAS: Sir, Sir, Sir, Sir! That is sin consciousness.
PASTOR: Hmmm. So how do you show your wife you will behave better and do well by her?
OSAS: I've changed my mind. Repentance is from the greek word metanoia which means change of mind. It is not about behavioral change.
PASTOR: You mean you don't plan to behave better?
OSAS: Sir, I am not a husband because I behave well. I behave well because I am a husband!!!
PASTOR: A husband that cannot apologize to his wife?
OSAS: These are the things you taught us, Pastor, instead of apologizing I just confessed my husbandness! I am sealed. See my wedding ring
PASTOR: Mo ma r'ogo
OSAS: Ogooooooooo! Gloray!!!!!

Dear people, don't let any tisha tish you nonsense.
Don't let them use twisted scripture to deceive you into a tongue-talking dead faith that has no heart, no truth, no love, no heaven and no grace.
Na beg I dey beg.
WAKE UP!
It's not Old-school to trust God to help you in making a choice of a life partner
One prayer you should always pray as a Single is "Lord let me not marry wrong"
Don't shut out in your search of a Life partner
Things don't get better with time, things get better with work.
You're either getting better or you're getting worse. There is no in-between.
If you're not deliberate about doing things that makes you better at what you do, you'll actually be getting worse at what you do
The letters of Paul reveal something deep.
Many who seem to the doctrine of Paul – finished works, the election of grace, new creation realities, and so on, are unaware of what the gospel did to the man.
I think that if the blessed apostle Paul were to see today much of what is being taught in his name, he would marvel at how we have misinterpreted something so clear.
It is quite interesting that people who have studied Ephesians, Philippians, Galatians and Romans come out with the conclusions such as "we are Christ", "we are gods", and so on.
The man himself who received these revelations by study and by profound encounters on earth and in heaven, once said to unbelievers – we are ordinary men like you. Not gods (Acts 14:15).
Paul said this. There are ministers of the gospel today who believe Paul missed it there, or that he had not fully understood the finished works of Christ at that time.
Yes.
Let me show you something from his letters that makes me want to weep whenever I consider it
Paul wrote Galatians around AD 50, and in 1:1, he called himself an apostle.
Paul then wrote I Corinthians around AD 54, and in 15:9, he said he was the least of the apostles, and that he not even worthy to be called an apostle.
Later, in the book of Ephesians, which he wrote at about AD 61, this man said in 3:8 that he was the least of all believers.
As if all that was not enough, in the letter of 1st Timothy, which he wrote at about AD 64, this mighty apostle and receiver of Christ’s revelation then referred to himself in 1:15 as the worst of sinners whom Jesus saved.
It is clear that the more he knew Jesus, the smaller he saw himself in his own eyes.
Little wonder he wrote to the Romans (in 12:3) – I plead with you not to think of yourselves more highly than you should, do not have an exaggerated sense of your own importance
Little wonder he wrote to the Corinthian church in his second letter to them (4:5) – We do not preach ourselves. We preach Jesus the Lord. We preach ourselves only as your servants for His sake.
Little wonder he cried out to the Philippians – Whatever things were gain to me, whatever my credentials and pedigree was, I throw them all away that I may gain Christ (3:7-10). He cried - That I might know Him! And this he wrote towards the end of his ministry, not at the beginning.
Many modern teachers and preachers from Paul’s inspired works do not sound like Paul. It seems as though we have added modern thinking to scriptural revelation.
J.I. Packer said this - our business is to present the Christian faith clothed in modern terms; NOT TO propagate modern thought clothed in Christian terms. Confusion here, is fatal.
Even though it is not wrong, Paul never said as we do today – I know who I am.
Not once. Rather, he said – I know Whom I have believed (2 Tim 1:12).
The whole emphasis of His life, the real Treasure of his essence was Christ, and not Paul.
He said – Yet not I, but CHRIST in me.
That man embodied the words of John who baptized – I must decrease, and He must increase.
Paul was not about Paul. He set aside Paul that he might be all about JESUS.
That was his gospel
That is the gospel.
What you receive in life is not what God wants to give. What you receive in life is what you have the capacity to receive
God will not quickly take you to your promised Land if He knows that you will return to Egypt when you see war
What you have just explained sir is MODALISM .
It is the first major heresy debunked by the post -apostolic ecumenical council of Nicea of 325AD .
MOG , please take time to study church history of the first 400 years .
I reccomend this book .
Church History by Bruce Shelley .
A believer who always says "The Bible says..."
Is FAR MORE SPIRITUAL than one who always says "The Holy Spirit told me..."
See and hear, but know this
'It is written' is greater than 'I heard'
'It is written' is greater than 'I saw'
Yes.
You can pray to God in your room and He will hear you. You don't have to go to a church before your Father will answer you;
But if you never go to church, or hardly go because you just feel church is full of fake people. That is pride. You feel you are better than most Christians.
And that is why God will not hear you in your room.
@GroveRKifasi Yea
"Talks on money, marriage or life issues are not out of place but they must flow from the Gospel, not merely be feel-good speeches"
I'm glad you mentioned dis bcos it is scriptural dat A PASTOR MUST TEACH ABOUT THESE THINGS
A person who hasnt pastored wuld neva undstand dis
