The chief of cardiac surgery at the Jewish General Hospital has tendered his resignation and plans to move to Atlanta in September, citing rising antisemitism in Montreal and worsening problems with the province’s health-care system. https://t.co/1wtSJBpVWT
“I have no problem taking a job in a place that I am not welcome in,” Mr. Bilton said to Palley. “You are not going to intimidate me in front of this group of people. I want that to be clear.” This story, by @grynbaum and @BenMullin, defines jaw-dropper. https://t.co/AQBQkbkGJV
My father is 87 years old. He has survived cancer several times. Prostate cancer, bladder cancer, skin cancer. He has had radiation and chemo. He has had tumors removed. He has had several big surgeries. He’s had it all. Add to that he has diabetes and on 3 occasions came very close to going into a diabetic coma. For many years now, my father sleeps day and night because he has no energy to stay awake and because he’s in too much pain.
This season, he watched some Montreal Canadiens games. He loved what he saw. He loved the team. He loved the staff. In the playoffs, my father watched every Habs playoff game. And, he celebrated every win. The Montreal Canadiens gave my father energy, they made him happy, they made him forget about his health and his pain. This is the power of the Habs.

Wow. This is something. Candour, expression of regret and a salute to Mr. Mulroney's contributions to Atlantic Canada from a foe who became a friend. Something you hear about the late Prime Minister a lot.
“It was the biggest mistake of my life. Brian Mulroney deserved to have Meech Lake implemented.”
