When I worked at the Scottish Parliament, there were some MSPs who were shocked to find out that the workplace smoking ban meant that the smoking room in the Parliament building had to close. They couldn’t believe the law applied to them. They huffed and puffed about it, complaining to the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body - trying to argue that they were exempt from having to comply with the law.

Wow, this chap informs us that 5 men will be stripping naked in the men’s changing rooms at council pools to protest against @EHRC guidance. Fine under normal circumstances, but he specifically states that it will be during the school summer holidays.

What could possibly be the reason for choosing a time when there will be more little boys present?

We assume this protest is intended to draw support for their cause, but it appears to be one massive red-flag own goal!

Removing it depersonalises and dehumanises women, creating real barriers for those who are traumatised, have learning disabilities, limited literacy, or English as an additional language.

At Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday, the Bulgarian couple were convicted of assault in relation to this incident. The man was also found to have made sexualised remarks to one of the girls. The pair will be sentenced on 5 August.

Tonight I attended the @WWWheesht hustings and had the opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues including women’s rights, healthcare, childcare, public services and the future of Scotland.

The feedback afterwards was incredibly encouraging, and I would like to thank everyone who came along and took part in a respectful and constructive discussion.

The Conservative position is clear.

We support single-sex spaces for women in bathrooms, changing rooms, hospital wards and prisons, in line with the Supreme Court ruling.

Scottish Conservatives opposed the Gender Recognition Reform Bill from the beginning and continue to stand up for women’s rights.

We have also committed to:

• 30 hours of free childcare from nine months old
• A Women’s Health Charter
• Protecting maternity and neonatal services
• An independent grooming gangs inquiry
• Raising the marriage age to 18
• Removing biological men from women’s prisons

Women deserve politicians who will speak clearly, stand by their principles and act when it matters.
