Shamarrie Hugie is heading to Austin Peay. Could be a nice buy low add for the Govs, who added Rashaud Marshall last year who was in a similar situation. Marshall played backup to Izaiyah Nelson at Arkansas State, goes to Austin Peay and popped off. Hugie backed up Wyatt Fricks, an absolute stud at Marshall and now will get a chance to blossom at Austin Peay.

The Govs have some real talent. Marshall, Zyree Collins, Hugie and Felipe Mizner could be another wild card.

University of Houston coach Kelvin Sampson on Kingston Flemings' performance at NBA Draft Combine, his shooting success and the somewhat absurd wingspan questions that came up: "You tell him he can't do something, he's going to show you. . . As soon as it becomes a competition, he's going to make it." On small wingspan talk: "What's that got to do with anything? What would you rather have a guy go 19 for 25 (shooting threes) or have two inches on his wingspan?"

Sampson reminds that Kevin Durant could only bench press 135 pounds one time at his NBA Draft Combine testing back when Durant came out of Texas. "What are we talking about?" Sampson says.

0f course, this being Kelvin Sampson he also works in a story about Coach Dan Monson, crediting him for a shooting drill that Sampson's teams still use today.
