What happens when women and organisations across East Africa come together to move beyond conversations and build the structures needed for change?

On 25 September 2026, Kampala will host the East African Woman Founding Convening, bringing together women, young leaders, researchers, civil society, institutions, advocates, private-sector actors, government and other changemakers.

Centred on lived realities, research and evidence, the convening will create space to listen, learn, exchange knowledge, identify gaps and build intentional collaborations for advancing the lives of African women and girls.

Under the theme “Owning Our Stories. Reclaiming Our Power: From Silence to Structure,” this is the beginning of a wider journey across East Africa and, ultimately, the continent.

Different experiences. Different strengths. A shared commitment to turning evidence and lived realities into strategic action.
