>wholesome japanese artist sets up twitter
>use it to post anatomy studies and how to's and tips to help people improve their art
>gets bullied by tumblr level artists who dont like they're shitty methods being challenged
>harassment gets so bad dude has to leave twitter
@ZanVT_INC I can't comprehend the fact that I'm about to defend somebody who ever even walked in Twitch's halls, but surely you can't be dumb enough to think that the HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS personally designed and sent that tweet, or even personally approved it. That's not how corpos work.
I'm not sure how much I want to keep discussing this all, but I felt like Bao made that apology due to my tweet earlier today after I said it felt like she was mocking abuse victims.
https://t.co/VIG1lt7GGy My video and thoughts here:
So I wanted to give my thoughts, about both that situation, the overall situation and how it lead to this and because I wanted to "clear my name" again for the YT community. I will be honest, I don't want to be seen as a victim or victim farming. I would rather the focus be on all the other men who aren't receiving attention, as well as future male (and female) victims who are hurt in this space. That is the real importance. I am kind of disassociating not going to lie and for all the men who have sent their messages, their support, the women friends of mine and everyone involved... Thank you. I'm sorry I'm missing things, it's been a lot.
Also the biggest thank you to everyone who has heard what I had to say, and supported the other men going through this all. This has been a crazy 2 weeks. I am very uh, numb and after I post this I'm stepping off the internet for the night. This was a lot for me. I am a very anxious and shy person, so I'm not used to this public eye on me. But I wanted to do it for the men who have reached out with their stories and pain. Please don't judge me for being vocal still, I am doing it for them (and selfishly, my own closure.)
Timeline and quick summary (scroll down if you know what happened. Or skip the first 20 ish minutes on YT if you know what happened. People on YT were confused af so I had to recap and give more context since a lot of this was on Twitter as well.
1) Saw Bao's tweet, thought "Fuck Mizkif" and agreed
2) Many men started discussing the discourse and why it was bad and generalized (agreed but we got the gist)
3) People started using that discourse to harassment blindly, and insult men (it was kind of a "anti man hate mob". )
4) Hundreds of antimen tweets. All my "fleshtuber" friends just shit talked Mizkif. Not men. Said he was a freak. I did too on my channel on like 10 videos lol.
5) Men started getting hurt, and as men were getting hurt people kept going.
6) Started going back and forth in bad faith.
7) Real men, after a few days (myself included) felt the need to explain that issues were real and happening. To deescalate and find common ground. This is where many people wished Bao stepped in, or eventually would have said something more. "Hey guys, I'm seeing some discourse about men as well. Everyone can be a victim. Please always be careful." Etc. Just as a sign of good faith to move past it. If she did no one would be still talking or reading this LOL.
8) People were using Bao's words to dismiss 7 as well. As the conversation evolved to a real discussion about abuse and the male VTubing society.
9) Around here and then, due to being engaged and my situation shown on video and on twitter, I tried to explain a bit more that it's a hard situation to be in for men, and explain my case roughly since I didn't want to engage in drama. Using DisguisedToasts example. A rich popular famous streamer still felt uncomfortable for speaking out against a woman sexually harassing him on stream.
9a) Some people even said "The Toast example was horrible" and "Didn't matter since he had more viewers"??????? When the conversation turned into how men have issues speaking out, get abused, and mocked, and it's hard for men to do it societally. Look at me this entire week. I lived this all in real time. The conversation evolved and people a week later were lazily using baos words to stop victims and the discussion of male abuse. Then got mad when people weren't talking about Bao. It kept going back to her when people were trying to move on. I tried to move on multiple times even days ago. To focus on the real issues. This was and is and why Bao was so expected to stop it, on behalf of male victims. She needed to help.
6) People called me a liar, harassed me, gaslit me, and used bao's "words" as a scape goat from accountability and blanket harassment.
7) more men started to agree with me, and real victims were coming forward. Both publicly and many many men privately.
8) I saw these man's experiences, and wanted to state how I was abused, by female VTubers to try and speak and lead by example.
9) People kept using the Bao excuse and dismissing what was going on, even insulting male victims in my messages. Or, to me, trying to have a hardcore debate about male vs female abuse.... as I'm making posts about how I was abused and to just not hate men, or instantly dismiss men. People were discussing abuse, on my posts, about abuse and listening to victims. I felt like I was in lalaland.
10) my entire situation was helped, due to women hearing me out and listening to me. So I wanted to try to advocate it, for men who might not have that. My life in the VTubing sphere especially would have been over if women thought I was creep. Even though I broke up with the girl, and she was caught lying with proof.
11) People just... kept fighting. But another creator publicly harassed me on one of my posts about how I felt uncomfortable, after being abused and critiqued about speaking out about my own abuse. Like, I got made fun of and harassed by their community for saying I was abused. I was so confused. Even though SO many men and women got the message, knew I wasn't a troll, and took the time to listen. Thank you everyone, even for reading this. I know it's been a lot this week.
12) I had to cry on video and explain it even more (the abuse full story was also already aired out. I mentioned this all during the event. People were too busy focusing on the Bao situation after like day 8 still lol. I don't mind, it was for my community and I'd rather it stayed that way.
13) After being harassed more, I had to show the full proof. All stemming from Bao's commentary, and many Vtubers using these words to dismiss what was ongoing. I was literally being harassed from saying to be patient and listen to men too. Everytime I supported Bao and women. Still do. I want the best for everyone, maybe I'm naive.
14) After I spoke out (which happened less than 24 hours ago. It's still fresh for me.) Hours later I saw Bao say she is "engagement farming" her comments from her recent stream. I made my post because after every story from all the men AND women I've heard, the harassment I received, (although still, it was more support than anything. I am blessed. Thank you everyone.) After all the men hurt, my self having to esculate my abuse story that I was not ready to tell, but wanted to on behalf of all the men out there. It was heart breaking. Look at my comments on it, it was my live reaction. It was literally like 3 hours after I just made one of the hardest videos I had to make in my life.
**RECAP DONE**
Editors note: (Bro I'm reading this over and somehow I messed up the numbers I'm going crazy LOL this is a fucking novel I'm going to be so happy to move on)
*NEW THOUGHTS HERE**
It felt like someone was profiting while so many people were suffering and abused. She was bragging how she made money from the more attention she is getting. Even as a "joke" that wasn't funny. I lived this all. I'm not laughing. Men were crying. I cried on video multiple times. It's embarrassed. I got mocked and made fun of. I took 9 months off of Twitch. I haven't even streamed while discussing this all, and Bao has.
15) It went viral, and we finally saw her apologize today.
I also had a post to Bao, days ago, highlighting this happening with hundreds of likes that she ignored. (Not that I need her attention, it is ok if it was missed. Just saying, I tried to minimize it. Probably seems pick me AF, but I dunno. She responds to like 20 other tweets, figured there was a chance. Happens.
That's the timeline, covered in the video as well with more proof and context. The issue was people were harassing men who were real victims, using Bao's voice, and she never condemned it, double down multiple times, and then only now said sorry. (Which has been shown, she didn't even say sorry at first) and for me, who had to deal with this all and still is getting harassment, doesn't feel like... anything stopped. (I KEEP SAYING IM SEEING 95% MORE SUPPORT THAN HATE I AM NOT A VICTIM SO MANY PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU I FEEL HEARD. Just make sure to keep this energy for everyone else too. Not just because of this drama giving men the spotlight. <3 For everyone.
If it's alright, I would like to cover these situation a bit more on the channel, as there's more stories from others to be told, and take a few more days off when it's done. But, after I post this I'm off the internet for the day. Please don't cancel me LOL. I just want men heard, I want everyone safe, and a nicer VTuber sphere. I don't even hate Bao. It took 9 months of processing to get here, so I'm "ok" but it's still a lot having hundreds of thousands if not millions of people seeing your trauma aired out. Especially since there's more to this story and more people who have harassed me. Even for someone who is used to attention, this is... a lot.
But, I'd rather not make this about this (as I show in video, the first like week I didn't even mention my situation. Then did, and then people even to those comments were harassing me lol. Then didn't believe me, then after I showed proof and everything, people were mocking me calling me a loser, weak, attention whore, etc. Literally exactly the problems I tried to warn people of since I was seeing it on the first day bao tweeted. The entire situation happened to me in real time. This is almost a case study of being a man and how hard it is to speak out against abuse. The real issue here.
Bao's comments initially wasn't wrong, but her never condemning it all and seeing it as a joke, in her words to "impression farm" (which makes her get more views, social media followers, and in tern make her more money.) while hearing so many men suffering. I saw this post hours only after spending all day reliving and rehashing my own traumatic experiences for people to make a mockery of me. (I saw and still see SO MUCH MORE SUPPORT. I am not a victim. There are bigger victims that need to be heard, not me.) But, those comments still hurt seeing. But, I don't want to be labeled a victim.
If I had to say anything to Bao, I just want her to say a genuine apology and just lead the charge to building a safer VTubing universe for everyone. These problems don't exist as much in the "normal" fleshtuber sphere. It does, but not to the google docs every other day and... this sphere. If Shroud did this, he would lose every sponsor he has. Kind of why I feel like Bao only apologized after seeing a "viral" tweet of her not caring about male abuse victims. No matter what business or company your in, like I said, that is horrible optics. But, there is proof her initial post didn't even say sorry. :(
To me, it felt like the catalyst. Being involved and being hurt, even AFTER Bao "Apologized" means the issue wasn't ever solved. She blamed her mental health (I hope she gets better, she's been through a lot.) No one should suffer. But, she didn't even say sorry at first. ;-;
She only said sorry after she said she was profiting off of abuse victims, got called out because wtf. and after all the stories I've heard, even in private, and now seeing in public. People are upset. People are still hurt. It didn't fix anything, only her own PR. :( Please don't hurt her more, or harass her. I think she's in a hard spot. No one deserves to be harassed. I would know, I've seen it as I'm typing this post. It sucks.
But that's why I'm sad seeing what she said. Felt like it was forced, felt like it was fake. Felt like she didn't even take accountability or understand why she was sorry. Felt like it was once again, for like the 7th time, a different excuse blaming others. I showed them all in the video.
I dunno, this has been a lot. I'm trying to be strong for the men out there, but I think for the rest of the night I'm stepping away. I need to process what the heck happened.
Please don't send hate to Bao. Don't send hate to women who are going through hard things, and support both men and women who have been hurt here. She did also edit her comment, and say sorry. So she did at least say it. So I don't want that to not be known, or at least acknowledge she did attempt to fix her mistake. :)
Thank you everyone, for the kindness I was shown. I do not deserve it. I don't deserve your time, and please remember to give the love to the men who have been hurting. To the women who have been in pain. To everyone else who needs it. Thank you for giving me a voice, I tried to use it for good. Signing off of twitter for the night now. My friends summoned me.
Luke 🤍
@SexArcade Thanks for the genuine response! Been a fan for a long time and love chatting with artists about their work and the little choices they have to make. Definitely doesn't ruin the piece of anything, just couldn't help but see it and wonder!
@Feliciamtang Why did you delete your tweet? Thought you were proud of your company making it a point to follow up with people, does this mean you lied about that?
