The Pan-American Highway is the world’s longest highway, almost spanning the full length of North and South America. Before today, no one had yet driven from the tippy top of North America (Tuktoyaktuk) into the Darien Gap to the southern tip in South America (Ushuaia) in an electric vehicle solo - unsupported. My Model X, Beluga, was converted into the ultimate stealth overlanding rig, with a full kitchen, running water, Starlink and 300 watts of solar panels on the hood, which allowed us to roam across some of the best most remote places on Earth with confidence.

The real challenges here…border crossings, cartels, and corrupt cops, yet I embraced it all. Charging on the other hand, was quite a puzzle sometimes, being a foreigner and having very little information to go on. I discovered how far along the electric movement is and where the short comings lie…and I can say with confidence that Tesla Supercharging is the best and most reliable infrastructure out there…

I wanted to showcase that anyone with a dream can make it happen, without needing all the answers. Thank you to all the kind strangers that helped along the way, and the countless dogs that adopted us and kept guard at night!

@TeslaCharging Thanks @teslaenergy for giving us a New Supercharger to México. First one in 2026! @Tesla quick question why does it take almost 10 months to open a new supercharger in Mexico? Is it our government? The Mexican Electricity commision ? Why is the expansion so slow?

Tesla has 2 Supercharger Locations Open in South America. I decided to see if I could charge my North American Model X, Beluga, with NACS in Santiago Chile. This is what I learned…

To get here, I drove 34,300 Kilometers (21,437 miles) across 13 countries through some of the most beautiful, remote, and dangerous areas in the world.

I have a special NACS to CCS2 adapter, which I have used all over Latin America, but what I was worried about, was that the car UI maps are North American, meaning the chargers do NOT register in the UI..

First attempt - Fail.

Then Jimmy said, keep trying by pressing the button. Keep going…

Second attempt - Click, Click. I saw the Tesla logo blinking GREEN!

We were charging, at 180kW, the fastest charge I have had in all the Americas. WILD!

Remember, some places I have averaging 3amps…1kW if I was lucky!

Then, once the charge was done, from 38% to 80% SoC, taking about 25 minutes, I got the error that my credit card could not be used to pay for the charging, meaning I could potentially be locked out.. I reentered by credit card, and magic, I paid for the charging!

$300 Pesos kWh - $0.35

WHOAAAA. I was speechless…a kid, running around the car, so happy! High on life!

I then made Jimmy, my friend traveling with me for the next few weeks, make it official, by placing the Chilean Flag underneath Belugas hood and signing his name and date to register the moment!

A few hours later we drove to the Tesla store in Santiago, and explained about my expedition!
