Eleven days ago at Blue Ridge Animal Rescue in Asheville, North Carolina, a tiny black terrier mix named Wren arrived from a neglect case, Severely underweight Completely shut down. Wouldn't eat.!
Wouldn't lift her head. Staff tried everything for five days. Nothing reached her. Then there was Chester. A twelve year-old Great Pyrenees, Surrendered four years ago. Never adopted. Too old, people say. Too big. But shelter directon Mara says quietly: "Chester has settled more broken dogs than anything else we've tried!" Night five, Chester walked across the kennel and lay down beside Wren. By morning she had eaten her first full meal. Chester is still available for adoption. Still showing up fo the ones nobody else can reach.

Many of you know & remember on my last trip to Tunisa I spent the week moving a whole colony that was in danger carrying them one at a time to another of my colonies. During this I hurt my neck badly and pulled my back. I have been wearing a neck brace to ease some of the pain, on bad days I even use a cane when doing my routes to help support my back pain.
Well, last week I woke up in extreme pain, I was folded over & couldn't walk at all. I called a taxi & went to emergency where I was stuck there for 8 hours. They loaded me up on 4 different pain killers to stop the pain. They made a appointment for me to see a Dr the next day and sent me home with a pain killer.
Waking up the next day the meds from the hospital had worn off and i was in the same pain, the pain killer they gave me did nothing. I went to my appointment they made for me. The Dr sent me for a MRI of the neck & back. The results show that I have 4 herniated disc in my neck and a slipped disc in the spine. I also have 2 tumors in my neck & 1 in my spine and was recommended to see a brain surgeon. I was given a much stronger prescription, which now helps me. I was told the high risks of the surgery.
Well everyone knows me well here and one thing I don't do is where give up on the cats. I see I can manage with the pain killers they have given me. They are very strong. Also there are other things i was told i can do like injections in the spine for pain. I am NOT having any biopsy or surgery. I will just push myself forward and keep going like always. The rescues the ferals and any cat life I help or save is what matters to me. I devoted my life to them and I will not stop now. I can take the pain, I'm used to pain, I will try to find some trustworthy help to do some simple things to make my life easier if I can, I've has no luck in the past so I wont count on this.
But i have to do things in my life to make things easier on myself
I'm going to look for a 3 wheel bike for my route. I need to do things to make my job easier. Deliveries will have to be full from now on. No more running out of litter or food and going to the market and having to carry a few bags of litter or heavy cans back home.
Right now my route is taking me a little longer The pain meds make me very sick. The nausia will pass once till I get use to them. And I'm having very low blood pressure which makes me dizzy and bad vision.
CWNH is the most important thing to me, this is my life and will continue to be until im no more. .Please do likes and shares and keep it running strong, I'm doing my very best and will never stop, you can always count on me!!!
Help is always needed for medical care of our special needs rescues, for supplies and for food for our feral colonies which we have going in 2 countries. Every bit of help is greatly appreciated.
