Today, I had to go wait for the trucks. My friend Abu Omar accompanied me, and we set out. While we were waiting, hoping to get some flour, the tanks started firing.
It was a terrifying moment. I dropped to the ground, only to find Abu Omar’s head in my hands, covered in blood. I couldn’t comprehend what was happening. My heart was racing, and fear made me unable to stand.

My God, a sniper’s bullet had hit him directly in the head. He didn’t speak or move, he just died.

Abu Omar died, leaving his young children who were waiting for him to bring them food.

My friend was martyred in my arms, his blood mixing with my body. Instead of returning with a sack of flour, I came back carrying my friend, with a broken heart, a frail body, and an exhausted soul. I carried him with some young men until we reached an ambulance two kilometers away from where we were. We returned with a sack containing my friend’s body.
