Things that won't determine your writing career:
-Being naturally talented

Things that WILL determine your writing career:
-Continuing to write even when you want to quit
-Believing in your story and yourself
I’m reading “Bluebird Sings to the Lemonade Springs” by Stegner. Late in life, he writes a letter to his former student, Wendell Berry, that will just make a grown man cry. He says, “you’re a good writer, but who cares. You’re a good man.”
Then signs off complimenting his wife.
