Come join us and some other awesome UT progressive student orgs on the 25th! We’d love to meet some new faces and catch up with folks we haven’t seen all summer.
.@lsepper in @TeenVogue on Kennedy v. Bremerton: “Experiences will vary… In much of the Deep South, Catholics and Mormons, for example, may encounter public school teachers and coaches who express hostility toward their faith.”👇

Is the State of Texas "judge shopping" in their lawsuits against the Biden administration? And if so, is that wrong? @steve_vladeck thinks so, and now @LinzCHarrison of @JennerBlockLLP and Max Wilson of @NILC has worked with him to file an amicus brief on the matter👇
Texas plans to kill Ramiro Gonzales on July 13th for a crime he committed when he was barely 18! Texas stands nearly alone in executing ppl who were teenagers at the time of their offense, leaving no consideration of Ramiro's transformation. Take action: https://t.co/7h9nRu8ME6
When Justice Kennedy retired in 2018, he thought key precedent were safe. It took just 4 yrs and one more Trump appointee to prove him wrong. https://t.co/bBMTyeU9eL
Happy July 4th! To celebrate, here are some of the concerning Supreme Court cases all ACS-affiliated people should know, put together by board members. We will be doing a separate series on Dobbs, Kennedy, and shadow docket cases. 1/27
The EPA decision leaves little question about the conservative supermajority’s readiness to further erode the executive's ability to govern with future cases – the separation of powers and our constitutional democracy be damned. #SCOTUS

🧵 Our full statement on the #SCOTUS EPA decision:
"The climate crisis is not a far-away problem — it’s already here and it’s impacting families across Texas and throughout the nation with extreme weather events."
We’re looking forward to hearing from Professors @AzizaAhmed , @LeahLitman, @lsepper , and @steve_vladeck on the Dobbs decision this Friday at 11:30 Central. Thank you Texas Law for hosting this timely event! https://t.co/jFaXv4PoCV
The Supreme Court is in a legitimacy crisis.
It's been packed by the Right to do exactly what it is doing, issue partisan decisions that are out of touch with the public and defy sound legal reasoning.
If we are to protect civil rights in this country, we must reform #SCOTUS.
5. From the joint dissent by Justices Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan:
"With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent."
(1/8) The supreme court just overturned fifty years of settled precedent in order to strip us of our right to reproductive autonomy: https://t.co/9cXM0oJETt
#SCOTUS erased a federal constitutional right with its decision in #Dobbs today, delivering a crippling blow to the Court's legitimacy and proving itself indifferent to the devastating human toll of this decision. Read our statement: https://t.co/V2AhWhjATd
There are 4 executions scheduled for April. TX and TN are preparing to execute two people w/ credible claims of innocence, and SC plans to bring back the electric chair or firing squad. These horrors underscore the barbaric injustice of capital punishment. #AbolishtheDeathPenalty
ACS congratulates Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her historic and bipartisan confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court and looks forward to her assuming her seat on the court later this year. What a joyous and historic day! #SCOTUS#KetanjiBrownJackson https://t.co/nFbF3g36pV
