Delivery rates change, but… This Houstonian’s bigger issue is continuing to overpay his retailer 19 ¢/kWh (vs ~14) for electricity, wasting $1000’s.

Wholesale-indexed electric plans aren’t for everyone, but depriving smart consumers of the option (while keeping it for big businesses) is un-Texan.

@NichelleMyBell_ @txuenergy On your electric bill fine print, what does it say for "The average price you paid for electric service this month is ___ ¢/kWh"? Competitive rates today are 10.0 or less.
@Meaghanpaige97@reliantenergy Make sure to compare ¢/kWh, not $/month. Find the fine print on your old bill that says "The average price you paid for electricity service this month is ___ ¢/kWh." Compare that to at least 6 different retailers currently offering ~9.0 ¢/kWh for 12 months.
@joezissss@reliantenergy@GreenMtnEnergy FWIW, the Reliant 12-mo rate on PowerToChoose is currently 0.4 ¢/kWh cheaper than GME. And "green" plans backed by cheap voluntary RECs don't motivate new renewables construction, which is the only support that matters. :(
@leeann_darling 7-8 ¢/kWh would be great... maybe unrealistically so. I'd doublecheck the exact bill phrase I mentioned above to make sure it's not 7-8 for energy only, plus 4.5 more for delivery. 11.5-12.5 total wouldn't be so great, and would be cause to shop elsewhere before summer.
