Someone shared this with me: The reason why the crowds at Trump rallies listen to him telling all those crazy made up stories is because he's doing something fundamentally different than what normal politicians do at rallies. He's not outlining a policy agenda or conveying information about the real issues; he's doing a show. I know we say all the time that it's like he's doing a clown show but that's a bit wide of the mark; it's more like a type of fascist stand up comedy. He tells these ridiculous stories and the fact is that even the audience knows it's bullshit. Nobody is coming to him with tears in their eyes, but that's fine because truth isn't the point. He's not trying to convey facts; he's putting on a coded show to tell these people that he's part of their team, their tribe, and that they're all a special type of people who aren't bound by the same rules as the rest of us. That's why they laugh when he talks about sharks and electrocutions.

🚨🚨🚨 Disgraced former Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, said Trump would have lost in Texas in 2020 if his office had not successfully blocked counties from mailing out applications for mail-in ballots to all registered voters.

Harris County, home to the city of Houston, wanted to mail out applications for mail-in ballots to its approximately 2.4 million registered voters due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the conservative Texas Supreme Court blocked the county from doing so after it faced litigation from Paxton's office.

"If we'd lost Harris County—Trump won by 620,000 votes in Texas. Harris County mail-in ballots that they wanted to send out were 2.5 million, those were all illegal and we were able to stop every one of them," Paxton told former Trump adviser Steve Bannon during the latter's War Room podcast in 2021. The claim is making rounds again after Paxton’s impeachment.

"Had we not done that…We would've been one of those battleground states that they were counting votes in Harris County for three days and Donald Trump would've lost the election,” the Republican official said.

The Texas House voted 121-23 to suspend Paxton and refer him to the Senate for trial on charges of bribery, abuse of office and obstruction.

Permanently removing Paxton from office and barring him from holding future elected office in Texas would require the support of two-thirds of senators.
