Thirty-two(32) Nigerian nationals have been arrested in an interagency swoop, carried out by the Cyber Security Authority and National Security Operatives, during today’s early morning hours at Kasoa-Tuba.

The coordinated operation resulted in the confiscation of thirty-one(31) laptops and fifteen(15) mobile phones, suspected to be devices used in various cybercrimes.

The suspected individuals are currently in custody whilst further investigations into their operations are carried out, as part of the CSA and the government’s efforts to safeguard Ghana’s cyber and digital space.

I have a friend who served in Afghanistan. At one point, Taliban fighters were firing on his troop from a hilltop, so his unit returned fire.

Once the battle was over, he went up the hill to survey the damage.

There was no Taliban. There were no guns. Only dead children. The Taliban used them as shields and fled.

A community in Okanta, located in the Suhum area of the Eastern Region, is being forcefully displaced by a group of individuals who want to engage in illegal mining.

I reached out to a member who resides in the community, and she explained that multiple reports were allegedly filed at the Suhum Police Station and again at a station in Koforidua, yet nothing meaningful has come out of these complaints.

The District Chief Executive responsible for the area was also contacted, she claims, but despite these efforts, the community continues to face harassment and persistent threats from these individuals.

The individual who exposed what was happening claims she’s facing death threats and harassment from unknown callers. Several residential buildings were allegedly burnt to forcibly displace community members. This situation raises serious questions about our fight against illegal mining.
