19th June, 2026 ☀️📈
A hot day expected with highs around 28-30°C and will be close to a date record at Manston. Again we've not seen a high temperature reach the 30-31°C threshold in a June month since the monthly record fell in 2011. We will see strong sunshine and light breezes from the southwest.
Historically we have seen 4 years reach the proto-heatwave threshold for the date (+27°C) so not unusual for time of year. Those years were 2017, 2005, 2000 & 1893.
The current date record with Thanet Area data back to 1860 is 30.2°C set in 2000 at Margate North Down.
The current date record for Manston with data back to 1929 is 29.1°C set also in 2000. We will likely move close to, equate or beat this figure today.
Even at this time of we year we do see some exceptional coolness below 12°C still. Only 11.1°C in 1903 underneath some torrid rain conditions and dark skies. Very ungenial as well in 1888 with a high of only 11.7°C at Margate.
Upcoming Heatwave June 2026?
Uncertain with some modelling whether or not Easterly winds will impact us more over the next few days which will take the extreme heat more West. Potentially though tomorrow we could see our first +30°C in a June month since 2011.
The current monthly June record for Manston is 31.5°C from 2011.

19 June
The wettest June day on record for Manston back in 2007 with 49.8mm's recorded. A very large storm moved over the Channel and produced biblical amounts of rain over Thanet around midnight (19th-20th June).

Those showers have got substantially stronger than I thought and have formed a Kent clipper with some embedded lightning - should be arriving in the next hour or so.
@TimRealityDE This is mostly my own records which I have compiled and recovered for a few years now. Manston has digitised data on MIDAS back to 1961.
I have copies and scannings of original Manston/Margate/Ramsgate/North Foreland meteorological reports back to the late 19th century.
14 June, 2026 ⛅️
A day of sunny intervals with highs around the normal for time of year. Maximum's today around 18-19°C.
The hottest 14th June was set back in 1868 with highs of 27.8°C. The last hot day was back in 1992 when Margate reached 27.1°C.
Exceptionally cold in 1902 with highs of just 11.9°C at a gloomy Margate. Also very wet, dark and ungenial in 1903 where 34mm's of non-stop rain fell throughout the day with a high of just 12.2°C.
The odd spot of rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland first thing on Sunday ☔
Otherwise, mostly dry with plenty of bright spells, though the odd light shower is possible 🌥️
Feeling warmer than yesterday for many western areas 🌡️
13 June
This upcoming night last year saw an extreme rainfall event in Thanet with flash flooding across the region. Manston saw a near record 24 hour June total of 49.0mm's. The wettest June day since the 2007 record.
12th June, 1916
A horrid June day across Eastern England. Strong Winds, gloomy and wet. Ramsgate had only reached +8°C by 5pm and only managed to reach 10°C by midnight. The coldest temperature to ever be officially recorded in a Summer month in Thanet since 1882.
12 June, 2026
A far warmer day than of recent with highs around 21°C expected. It will remain relatively cloudy though but sunshine will be seen a times. Westerly breezes but a small risk of one or two small sporadic showers but nothing significant.
Record warmth from 1867 today when the Margate region reached highs of 30.0°C.
Exceptionally cold, damp and dark in 1916 where Ramsgate could only log a high temperature of just 10.0°C. This is the latest occasion in any year to see a high temperature this low. A day with a low max of just 10°C won't be seen again until early October...
11 June, 2026 🌧️
Persistent rain will edge in around mid-morning and last for most of the day with little sunshine. Expecting day time highs to be relatively low for time of year 15-16°C.
We could see a rainfall record at Manston depending how heavy the rain is. The current date record is 12.6mm's from 1998.
A wet and windy start in the west on Thursday with rain pushing eastwards ☔
Heaviest over the hills in Wales 🌧️
Drier in the far northeast of Scotland ⛅
