this man on tiktok said “youcannot repair a relationship with a man who believes the problem is always your reaction, never his behavior” and that’s real shit.
i heard a therapist say, ‘your feelings are always valid, your behavior is not.’ she explained by saying feel what you feel but you need to be accountable for what you do as a result of those feelings.
Living in a system where nearly every place is designed to take money is so exhausting, every moment is meant to cost money, everything is about money. It’s like our entire lives are just for rent, nowhere to sit down for free, nowhere to rest, then you pay again.
A month after we got married, my mother-in-law came to stay with us for a few days.
I was anxious, expecting her to judge everything I did.
One evening, my husband walked into the kitchen and casually said,
“Isn’t the food ready yet? I’m hungry.”
I had just returned from work, completely drained, but I didn’t say anything and kept going.
My mother-in-law was there, listening to it all, but she didn’t react immediately.
After he left, she gently called me over and said,
“Does he think this is a hotel?”
I felt embarrassed and replied that maybe I wasn’t doing enough.
She looked at me and said something I’ll always remember:
“You’re not his servant—you’re his partner. Being tired shouldn’t fall on just one person.”
Then she stood up and called out to him,
“Come here, habibi… your wife isn’t here to serve you. If you’re hungry, either help her or make something yourself.”
He fell silent—clearly not expecting that from her.
After that day, things began to change. Sometimes he’d get to the kitchen before me,
and if I was running late, he’d say, “Sit down, I’ll handle dinner tonight.”
That’s when it really hit me:
Not every mother enables her son at her daughter-in-law’s expense...
some raise men who know how to be true partners.
Two weeks after our wedding, my mother in law finally came to visit since she had missed the ceremony due to a flight issue. It was my first time meeting her, but we instantly got along.
One day, while we were in her room, my husband walked in looking irritated and asked where the laundry I had done was. He was specifically looking for a shirt I had washed. I excused myself to find it for him, but when I came back, my mother in law questioned me.
“Why do you let him talk to you like that?” she asked, clearly surprised. “You already did his laundry, and he still can’t find his own clothes? What does he think you are, his maid?”
She pulled me closer and added, “Listen, don’t let him treat you like a house girl. Since I got married, I’ve never done your father in law’s laundry, he actually does mine. That’s how I raised him to be. If he can’t even appreciate your effort enough to look for his own clothes, then let him wash and fold them himself.”
That was the last time I ever did his laundry in that house and now he’s the one doing mine.
Good mothers in law really do exist.
Get you a MAN that love you enough to care about how his actions gone effect your feelings and stop settling for these grown ass BOYS that think you supposed to love them thru all the bs they taking you thru. A real MAN knows his woman happiness is key to a happy relationship!
NEVER TRUST A MAN WHO gets upset over your reactions to his actions! You got mad because of what he did, and now he’s mad because you reacted. Then, he tries to gaslight you by saying you’re always arguing or creating negativity. No, that’s MANIPULATION. That’s narcissistic behaviour. You don’t get to hurt people and then play the VICTIM when they call you out.
As a therapist, I want to tell you: “You loved him because love is in you. You had fun because you are fun. You felt happy because you are a happy person. You gave your all because that is who you are. You have a really beautiful way of loving, and you are going to be okay.”
