Phil Spencer did not die a hero for Xbox, but instead lived long enough to see himself become the villain.

It also doesn’t help that half the studios that Microsoft acquires either get shut down or sit on their IPs and only make one new game every decade.

Phil Spencer did a lot of good for the Xbox, until that ABK deal:

- Dropped Kinect
- Took $100 off the Xbox One
- Backwards Compatibility
- Game Pass
- Xbox One X
- Smart acquisitions (InXile, Bethesda, Obsidian, Ninja Theory, etc.)
- Xbox Series S|X (awesome hardware)
- Publisher of the year 2021

I felt like we were headed back towards the 360 days for about a decade, then it just all fell apart with the ABK deal and multiplatform push. Respect where it’s due.

Holy shit, the bigger eyes make it look so much better. It’s not the greatest overall design in the world, I prefer the more humanoid look, but the bigger eyes do a lot to make it look a lot less soulless.
