As I listened back to Back to December Episode 6: The Final Masterpiece, I realised something important about what I was trying to achieve with this series.
It was never really about Haley and Luke.
Not entirely.
It was about forgiveness.
The kind of forgiveness that feels impossible when someone has hurt you deeply.
Throughout the series, Luke becomes both Haley's greatest supporter and her greatest obstacle. He helps shape her journey while simultaneously causing some of the biggest heartbreaks she experiences.
And that's life, isn't it?
The people we love most are often the people capable of hurting us the most.
What fascinated me as a writer wasn't whether Haley and Luke would end up together.
It was whether they could grow enough to deserve each other.
Could Haley let go of the anger?
Could Luke finally understand the consequences of his actions?
Could they stop choosing pride and start choosing love?
That's what Back to December became for me.
A story about two imperfect people learning that relationships aren't about finding perfection.
They're about finding someone worth forgiving.
And maybe that's why the ending means so much to me.
Because sometimes the greatest masterpiece we create isn't a painting, a book, or a podcast.
Sometimes it's the courage to love someone again after they've given you every reason not to. https://t.co/VMPDjmvMXr

TODAY THAT LOVE PODCAST CELEBRATES REACHING 350 EPISODES.
I’ve single-handedly written 350 episodes over six years.
But these stories would mean nothing without the incredible voice actors who brought these characters to life.
Special thanks to Emerson Peery, Chakree Matayanant, and my very first voice actor, Andrea Richardson.
Thank you to every listener who believed in this dream.
HERE’S TO 350 MORE EPISODES.

When I started That Love Podcast, I didn’t start with a business plan.
I started with a feeling.
A feeling that stories about love, relationships, hope, heartbreak, and human connection still mattered.
So I built.
Episode by episode.
Scene by scene.
Conversation by conversation.
Most people only see the finished work.
They don’t see:
The late nights editing
The self-doubt
The personal struggles happening in the background
The pressure of trying to keep a creative dream alive
But despite everything, I kept going.
Because I believed this could become something meaningful one day.
And my vision has never been small.
I want That Love Podcast to evolve into:
👉 A stronger podcast brand
👉 A creative studio
👉 A place where writers collaborate and grow
👉 A platform that helps talented people develop opportunities
I genuinely believe storytelling still has the power to connect people in a divided world.
And if I can help build something that gives writers, actors, and creators opportunities while continuing to tell emotional stories people connect with…
Then all the difficult years will have been worth it.
The dream continues. https://t.co/dffSy5eO0W

One thing I learned writing Episode 5 of Back To December is how fragile relationships become when people stop understanding the weight of each other’s dreams.
For Haley, art wasn’t a hobby.
It was her life’s work.
Ten years of sacrifice, pressure, and hope.
But Luke didn’t fully understand the seriousness of what she was risking until it was already too late.
And honestly, relationships fail all the time because people minimise what matters deeply to the other person.
A dream may look “small” to you.
But to someone else, it’s their identity.
That’s why emotional intelligence matters so much in relationships.
You have to learn:
👉 What matters deeply to people
👉 What pressures they carry silently
👉 What they cannot afford to lose
Because once someone feels like you’ve disrespected their purpose, rebuilding trust becomes incredibly difficult.
Sometimes love alone isn’t enough.
Understanding matters too. https://t.co/EMRK6wxNFR
He walked into that restaurant thinking he was protecting her. He was actually destroying everything she'd spent ten years building. 😤✨
Luke saw Mike Turner's hand on Haley's back and made a decision he couldn't take back. He insulted the most celebrated art dealer in the country, tanked the meeting, went back to fix it — and somehow made it worse. All in one day. 💔

Writing Episode 5 of Back To December made me realise something important about people:
Sometimes good intentions still create damage.
Luke genuinely loves Haley.
He wants to “fix” things.
He thinks he’s helping.
But instead of listening to what she asked for, he inserts himself into her career again and makes the situation even worse.
And honestly, that’s a huge life lesson.
Not every problem needs your interference.
Not every situation needs saving.
Sometimes the most mature thing you can do is:
👉 Respect boundaries
👉 Listen carefully
👉 Step back when asked
👉 Allow people space to handle things themselves
Because love without emotional discipline can become chaos very quickly.
Support isn’t controlling the outcome.
Support is understanding what the other person actually needs from you.
