My version was inspired by the Middle English poem, "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight", but it owes its ballad format solely to Peter Pringle's incredible musical rendition of the Green Knight, which is more familiar to the modern ear.

The poem was done by Christmas *last year* but the illustration took me another year to finish (appropriate!). I promised myself I would get it done by New Year's, and at 8pm on December 31st, I kept that promise by the skin of my teeth.
XD I'm never drawing a horse again.

@LukePlunkett a friend sent me your article and it was a great read! This media shift is something I've become really interested in researching and documenting lately, and it seems like a lot of old anime hands have been feeling that as well. I'm happy it's not all just nostalgia-courting :)
