[NEWS ON THE BORDERS!!!] The Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), Dr Michael Masiapato has confirmed that the BMA has successfully processed 300 Ghanaians from South Africa to Ghana at OR Tambo International Airport yesterday.
Out of the 300, 25 of them came from Lindela holding facility and were brought by the Immigration Inspectorate of the Department of Home Affairs. Further, 275 were brought by the Ghanaian High Commissioner. Following an intense check-in process, the travelers proceeded to BMA immigration wherein about 90% of them were found to be undocumented and the Ghanaian Embassy had to issue them with Emergency Travel Certificates (this is a one-way single-page document which allows a traveller to return to their country of origin). Most of the travelers were found to have overstayed with more than 30 days whilst some overstayed by a year or more. As a result; they were declared undesirable in terms of Sec 30 of the Immigration Act, read regulations 27(3)(c) of the Immigration Regulations.

Breaking News: President Tinubu was Asked Today, What is your message to Nigerians about the Issue of Insecurity, he responded : “Issue of insecurity, that is the lawf, that is the obedience of law” 😭😭😭😭
Dear @MmusiMaimane
You are correct that looting, assault and unlawful vigilantism are wrong. Nobody should be beaten, profiled or have their businesses destroyed. But there is also another truth you are avoiding: people protest when institutions fail them repeatedly for decades.
South Africans are not angry because they woke up hating foreigners. They are angry because unemployment is catastrophic, crime is out of control, public services are collapsing and borders have effectively become symbolic. The ANC government failed to protect both South Africans and lawful immigrants.
You say the root cause is ZANU-PF and FRELIMO. That is only half the truth. ZANU-PF did not collapse South African border security. ZANU-PF did not corrupt Home Affairs. ZANU-PF did not allow syndicates to flourish inside South Africa. The ANC did.
And respectfully, the idea that we can simply “ask” dictators for fair elections is not a serious solution. Dictators do not voluntarily surrender power because intellectuals write articles or issue moral appeals. Zimbabweans themselves have protested, voted, suffered intimidation and repression for years. Yet ZANU-PF remains because liberation movements in Southern Africa protect each other politically.
So while regional reform matters, South Africans cannot outsource their sovereignty to Harare or Maputo. We must deal with what OUR government controls immediately:
secure the borders,
digitise and clean up Home Affairs,
deport undocumented criminals,
prosecute corruption,
increase policing,
create jobs,
enforce labour laws against exploitation,
and process immigration lawfully and efficiently.
That is practical. That is immediate. That is within South Africa’s power.
People also need to stop pretending that every protest against illegal immigration is automatically xenophobia. It is legal in South Africa to protest. Citizens have every right to demand enforcement of immigration laws and accountability from government. The line is crossed when protests become violence, looting or ethnic targeting.
But frustration itself is not illegal. Anger is not illegal. Demanding functioning borders is not illegal.
The biggest mistake yall make is treating public frustration as irrational while offering solutions that depend on dictators suddenly developing democratic morals. That is fantasy politics.
Almost said I was disappointed I forgot he was a leader in that party, you’re literally picking on two isolated incidents and making them the gospel, how long does it take for the government to fix things after we VOTE!
Hi Penuel
For over a decade I have called for stronger borders so that we can know who is coming into the country and I have called for strong enforcement of immigration laws.
I did not stop there, I have spoken about the root causes of immigration in South Africa and how we fix it.
We cannot fix the immigration crisis in South Africa without talking about ZANU PF, FRELIMO and the relationship they have with ANC.
The three largest immigrant populations in South Africa are from Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Lesotho.
The reason why the populations are here is because of the violent, corrupt and dictatorial regimes in Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
To deal with the issues of immigration which cost us as South Africans we must deal with the root causes.
We must call for fair elections in Zimbabwe and Mozambique, we must cut ties with ZANU PF and its crony oligarchs.
If we do that the people of Mozambique and Zimbabwe will be able to choose their leaders and many of them will return to those countries.
I have said this before but maybe you did not take the time to read or listen to understand my position which I have honestly posted several times and written articles about.
Now let’s address vigilante interventions. We have to soberly ask ourselves if the approach of beating people, closing shops and checking for passports and profiling people based on skin complexion and Zulu proficiency works. It does not.
Vigilante action and vigilante violence is itself illegal. You do not solve an unlawful action with another unlawful action. If we hate illegal actions then we have to extend that to vigilantes who are breaking the law too.
It is illegal to beat people, it is illegal to check documents of people if you are not a member of law enforcement, it is illegal to loot businesses. It is illegal to incite imminent violence.
We cannot solve a crime with another crime. The reason for the immigration is not Mmusi Maimane. It is the government of the last 32 years which has caused this crisis by supporting ZANU PF and FRELIMO party.
It is the government of the last 32 years that has not increased the number of police and has not stopped corruption in home affairs and at the borders.
When we talk solutions we must be pragmatic and we must be realistic. Intimidation and harassment will not solve this problem and pose a risk to our international reputation.
Maturity is acknowledging the pain of the people, acknowledging the root causes of the problem and discussing viable solutions. Maturity is also pointing out dangerous solutions and advising against them.
Whatever you are planning to do on 30 June will not solve the real problem and may create many more problems.
Also, people that keep asking who is funding March and March dont make any sense to me. So you are saying what they are saying is funded propaganda and you don’t see even the tiniest bit of truth in March & March’s message? - thats quite obtuse
