Remember the individual mandate ?
Remember Sen McCain with his thumb down?
A signature HC legislation of the Dems was turned upside down and nearly taken down. Within 2 years of a new administration. So you really believe M4A would be any different if it’s not done right ?
The goal isn’t to pass legislation. The goal is to make healthcare affordable for everyone
The study you quote. Did it do any behavioral analysis or interviews ? Did they go to the top 20 hospitals and ask them whether they would opt out of M4A if the rates were not comparable to what they get today ? Of course not
Have you done an analysis of what WILL NOT BE COVERED, of course you have not.
When you over promise and under deliver, you know what happens ? The next administration uses the disappointment you create , demonizes the legislation and the people behind it , and makes things harder on patients. It could get worse if not done right
No one you have mentioned has discussed “let’s do this the right way so we can make this something all stakeholders , from doctors to hospitals to drug manufacturers, to patients can support. “
You throw out slogans and reference studies that don’t get discussed
You should read the first 165 pages of @AbdulElSayed book on Medicare for All.
You know what makes it good ? It’s almost all questions. There is nary a conclusion to be found beyond the goal of wanting M4A.
“A further question is how many years it will take to transition from the current healthcare system to Medicare for All. HR1384 proposes to make the transition over two years, while S1129 proposes a four-year transition. The question of how long to set aside for the transition is both practical and political. Practically, it will take time to get the program up and running, to finalize pertinent rules and regulations, and for providers to adjust to a new payment scheme. Politically, the risk of a short transition is that a botched rollout could hamper faith in the program—but a long transition could leave the program under attack if political winds change before it is fully built.”
He is right. He then goes on to ask many more questions.. He knows there is far more uncertainty, and not addressing could end with M4A being dismissed forever.
Don’t legislate Ro. Find solutions.
