1987: "…a new file format introduced today by CompuServe Inc. The Graphics Interchange Format, or GIF (pronounced 'jif'), allows for the exchange of high resolution graphic images between microcomputers without regard to hardware compatibility."

Susanna Sääskilahti from the Finnish National Gallery started an archival/docum. project on the technical details of ASLAP for research purposes. Janne Särkelä and Jani Linqvist will document the code and functions of the GIF-file and the 2.0 GIF player for future generations.
The transportable ASLAP will play in Institut Finlandais in Paris for 1 day (frames 122258 - 122307) on 11th Oct 2019! A discussion will be held 5-6.30pm with an introduction by Alexandre Michaan, freelance media art conservator - about digital art and its preservation strategies
ASLAP will be exhibited by LIMA media art platform in Amsterdam from 7 November to 12 December - Frames 77739 to 82371.
