What you don’t realize is that boomers grew up without “everything”.

We didn’t have birthday parties with pro photographers and a bouncy house; we had a homemade cake and we got to play with the water hose. We didn’t have destination weddings with 13 of our closest friends as bridesmaids. We had three or four and served refreshments in the church hall or if we were lucky, the country club. We didn’t have late model cars in high school. Our dad’s found us clunkers and kept them running for us. We didn’t have remotes and smart phones that satisfied our every whim or curiosity at a moment’s notice. We got up and changed the channel, checked out books from the library or maybe used the Encyclopedia Britannica for homework.

We had months and sometimes years when mom and dad made it clear that money was tight and so we wore hand-me-downs or went without.

We understand how to budget, use a coupon and actually do without. That doesn’t scare us at all.

So we’re not worried about the economy right now. We know it will adjust soon and probably be much stronger for the changes being made.

You know what we’re worried about?

Our grandchildren being convinced their gender is wrong and schools and medical establishments keeping that information from their parents while they’re given permanent, life-altering medical treatments.

We’re worried that the political correctness you forced on us is now just a permission slip for mental illness and delusion.

We’re worried that the hard fought peace between races that we experienced and knew was right, is now being destroyed by media narratives and political hacks like Jasmine Crockett.

We’re worried that the social security we’ve been paying into for DECADES is being misused and we’re pissed that public servants like Nancy Pelosi and her ilk has used her position to become a freaking multi-millionaire.

We’re worried that the gems of our country—like San Francisco and hell, the whole state of California—have been so comprised by a woke mindset that they’re ruined forever.

We’re worried that good, hard working men are so vilified and that divorce is easy and celebrated, that the family unit will just fall by the wayside.

We���re worried that we’re the only ones left who can see how much has been lost—and it has nothing to do with the stock market.

I'm fucking furious. I have been fucking saying EXACTLY FUCKING THIS for seven fucking years: All these bans do is make stupid people feel safe at the actual expense of our communal safety in the real world. Why?

Because while we've all been watching tent cities grow, and violence and addiction rise in our communities, all the fucking government's done is try and spin those very issues into political capital. They leverage violence into political victories.

No? You disagree?

Fuck off. Then fuck off some more. Then when you're done, fuck all the way off.

I mean Jesus Christ, go look at when Erin O'Toole's polls took the biggest shit: Right around when he was asked if he would reverse Trudeau's AR ban. You know? That ban that was so briefly controversial because it looked like the government was using the massacre to score points? Yeah. That ban. They had it drafted before the massacre (you don't make a list of 1,500 guns in a couple days), likely decided to use it while the massacre was still ongoing, and then wanted the RCMP to help them get even more political capital out of that ban than the bodies alone would. So, they tried to get Commissioner Lucki to pressure investigators into releasing the fact that the killer used an AR-15 so their ban would look even better.

I say look, because anyone with a brain knows they sure didn't give a fuck about whether or not the ban would work: They already knew the AR-15, and all the guns used that night, were illegally obtained. The ban simply did not address the manner in which Wortman was armed, bluntly. They knew the ban wouldn't work.

And yet, three years later, every Canadian has realized the gun bans aren't working. But all us gun owners are still stuck with a stinking fucking albatrosses labelled "Trudeau gun policy" hanging around our necks, while having to continue to read ever more headlines like "random mom slain in daylight shooting."

So yeah, I'm fucking pissed. Because for seven fucking years, my own goddamn workload tripled on account of covering gun policy stuff, and yet, we've never been less safe. Seriously. I used to go literal years between political articles because Harper didn't do much with guns. And guess fucking what? During those years...

You didn't have a tent city in your town.
You didn't have to check your local playground for needles before you let your kids play there.
You didn't see people on the street regularly and think "I hope they're not dead."
You didn't see overdose recovery kits just... hanging from random placed around your town.
You didn't see random innocent people getting attacked, stabbed, shot and killed for simply taking transit or getting coffee.

Coincidence? No. No it fucking isn't. It isn't a coincidence that when the government decides to literally fucking use violent acts to win fucking votes that the violent acts go up. What's that TruAnon? "REEEEEEEEEEEE THAT'S INSANE THE GOV WOULD NEVER USE VIOLENCE FOR POLITI-" Shut the fuck up. Just shut. The fuck. Up. Yes. Yes, they would, yes they did; that's why Brenda Lucki doesn't work for the RCMP anymore. So just stop trying to claim otherwise. You're wrong.

And now we're setting up to watch C-21 do the exact same thing to @PierrePoilievre as the OIC ban did to O'Toole, even as we also are forced to endure seemingly fucking endlessssssss headlines of "when will the incompetent Minister responsible for Public Safety step down." Put another way, we are forced to literally watch an incompetent Minister sponsor a dogshit bill that everyone except the most blindered anti-gun zealot admits will do more of the same thing every other Liberal gun policy has: Be detrimental to our actual safety, and help the people responsible get fucking re-elected.

So if you have watched these Liberal gun bills and felt good about them, don't. Seriously. The gun policy of the last few years can likely all be traced to an internal poll done sometime after 2018 or so that showed the Liberals win a lot more votes than they lose by banning guns - so they did that. Do I think there was a nefarious plot wherein they seriously decided to actively use rising violence to their benefit? No. I do not.

But I do think that they realized gun bans get more votes than they costs them, and I think on some level that understanding has to have be responsible for the Ministry of Public Safety's dereliction of duty to consult that began under Blair, and has worsened under Mendicino. I think, in short, they let the polls dictate who they listened to on guns, with the aim of getting to a foregone conclusion, rather than actual real-world expertise, study, and subject matter experts. And what we're seeing now on our streets is the result of that.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. It's time to set a new fucking destination.
