A candle-lit vigil has been held in #Liverpool in memory of all the women and girls who have lost their lives to male violence in Merseyside

The vigil’s theme focused on Femicide, with a report published last year showing the failings in keeping these women safe

October is domestic violence awareness month, 1 in 5 adults experience domestic abuse during their lifetime. This equates to 1 in 4 women & 1 in 6-7 men. While 1 in 5 children will be subject to dv in their own home.

The police recorded 889,918 domestic abuse-related crimes in the year ending March 2023, thats 1 in 5 crimes.
Domestic abuse is rife in our communities, the economic and social costs were £78 billion in 2023. It's time to make a change.

The First Step & the specialist VAWG sector in Merseyside have commissioned the Femicide Census to review Merseyside’s increasing numbers of women and girls killed as a result of male violence. We cannot expect anything to change without addressing the issue.
