We need YOU! The LMPD employment contracts are being voted on by council on APRIL 25 @ 5:30PM (after the mayor gives his budget address at 4PM).
NO citizens are allowed to speak at this meeting so we have to FILL THE ROOM!
See you there. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻✊
"Even after the repeal of NY law 50-a, many police departments built provisions into their labor contracts to handle officer misconduct cases with 'counseling memos' put into officers’ files & later expunged." @LevinsonAriana @The490Project https://t.co/VPsFfZWmlu
TONIGHT!
We’ve heard that they are trying to push this later in the meeting to wait us out. But we’ve got nothing but time when important issues like this are at stake!

📢 Join us to pack City Hall (601 W Jefferson St) on April 25th at 5:30pm to demand transparency and accountability in the negotiation of the Louisville Metro Police Department’s contract! @the490project
So, @LouisvilleMayor can scrounge up a 22% pay rise for cops over 4 years no problem and yet is telling TARC workers & riders "welp sucks for you" when he has the ability to put permanent operational funding in his budget for transit?
Make it make sense.
Louisville Metro Gov and the union representing police officers signed a contract that boosts officer pay & throws out discipline if investigations take too long.
The public has until tomorrow to register to comment on it.

🔦 The mayor negotiated a new employment contract for LMPD behind closed doors, despite what the DOJ consent decree required (transparency).
📅 Sign-ups for public comment close FRIDAY (TOMORROW), April 12 at 4pm. Sign up to speak: https://t.co/u7itzvmv4b
NEW: It looks like contract negotiations between Mayor Craig Greenberg’s administration and the police union are complete. The proposed collective bargaining agreements are being introduced at tonight’s Metro Council meeting. Last 2 items on the list here: https://t.co/kC4D8GjMUU
Some additional details: The public will have just over 24 hours to sign up to comment on the contract. Registration closes tomorrow at 4pm. According to the issue sheets for the contracts, they were just added to Metro Council’s agenda today.
We can't permit The 490 Project's victory in its open records/records management litigation against LMPD-& Metro Council's commitment to securing reform in LMPD's records management programs-to be forgotten.
The audit is complete. The real work now begins.https://t.co/ZjCnaPYWLx
Louisville's police chief reduced punishment for an officer who drove other officers who threw drinks at civilians in 'Slushygate'
In March, the Department of Justice criticized how LMPD chiefs "frequently" reduced punishments after meeting with officers. https://t.co/GscUzUmuBd
Yesterday I had to send in an open records request to a large, out-of-state police department. I got what I asked for in less than 8 hours.
In Louisville I consider myself lucky if I get just an acknowledgement of the request within the five business days allowed by law.
Louisville Metro Police's new body cam footage release policies "do not meet the baseline requirements established in state law. They cannot survive judicial review if challenged in the courts," writes @AmyeBensenhaver https://t.co/wuSv6ndaiT
Delta, Waffle House, and Chick-Fil-A are big donors to the Atlanta Police Foundation, the force behind Cop City. How do they afford these lavish donations? (Surprise: the answer is wage theft.) https://t.co/atYq8F8xGH
Louisville Metro Government is on the open records hot seat, yet again, as it failed to meet its extended deadline for production of records in one appeal and failed to respond to two records requests in a second appeal. https://t.co/BPFPB59M8r
