The *average* BigLaw partner rate I see is around $1800/hr!
My rack rate of $750-$800/hr (based on the matter type) makes me a better choice for my clients (startups, SMBs, fund managers, founders), than BigLaw.

@LSU90155@SMB_Attorney My view is creditor side work requires more creativity/skill at all levels. Much of debtor side work at the jr level is rote and should be made more efficient by AI, but the bk bar is a cabal and no one ever got fired for hiring the usual suspects (Kirkland, DP, Weil)
@LSU90155@SMB_Attorney Because these massive corporate ch11s are complex. The senior partners that can devise strategies to rx public companies can be worth it. But jr assoc. debtor side work requires no creativity or expertise. It is sheep herding and leverage for the bill.
@ItsMattsLaw@RobertFreundLaw Not sure why PE $ would result in public backlash. Will see corporate pushback, but caps are unlikely unless fees exceed market norms, which ethics rules de facto bar.
Lit funding a different animal; the industry has adjusted to disclosure requirements โ but no IRR caps AFAIK.
@RobertFreundLaw Unlike you, Rob, Iโm an AI bull/fan. But this is possibly the dumbest legal tech startup I have ever seen. Whoever seeded this needs their head checked.
why would you ever hire a law firm that didnโt have the self-respect to defend itself in the easiest case in the history of American jurisprudence:

There are a lot of good lawyers on Twitter who donโt charge nosebleed prices. We can do so because we keep overhead low. Many have the elite training youโd expect from a BigLaw firm. I suspect that, like me, many are also responsive, client-centric, value-add advisors.

Some clients work with me an hour a month. Some clock dozens of hours. For power user clients, I try to offer volume discounts and monthly flat fee packages where appropriate. I have supreme rate flexibility because, well, it is my firm.
