LASTMA UNVEILS 3367 TOLL-FREE SHORT-CODE HOTLINE TO STRENGTHEN EMERGENCY RESPONSE, ENHANCE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AND PROMOTE ACCOUNTABILITY ACROSS LAGOS.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (@followlastma) has officially unveiled its new 3367 Toll-Free Short-Code Hotline, a strategic initiative designed to fortify emergency response operations, optimize traffic management efficiency and deepen public participation in the administration of road transportation across Lagos State.
The newly introduced short-code represents a significant migration from the Agency's former long-service code platform to a more accessible, technologically advanced and citizen-oriented communication framework. Available toll-free on MTN, Etisalat (T2) and Glo networks, the platform enables millions of subscribers to report traffic-related emergencies and incidents without financial burden.
Through the 3367 hotline, road users can promptly notify LASTMA of vehicular breakdowns, road traffic collisions, disabled articulated vehicles, stranded tankers, traffic obstructions and other emergencies requiring urgent intervention. Importantly, the platform will also serve as a credible avenue through which members of the public may report the conduct, professionalism and operational activities of LASTMA personnel on duty, thereby reinforcing transparency, accountability and service excellence within the Agency.

EDUCATION EXCELLENCE: SHOWCASING AGEGE’S COMMITMENT TO LEARNING
I had the pleasure of receiving the Education Secretaries across the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LGEA), alongside the management team of Agege Local Government led by our Council Manager, Otunba Sogo Oshikoya. The visit, facilitated by the Education Secretary of Agege LGEA, Hajia Jannat Bashorun Olokodana, provided an opportunity to showcase the progress we are making in transforming education in Agege.
For us, education is not just a sector—it is the foundation upon which the future of our community is built. That is why, within a short period, we have rehabilitated 17 blocks of primary schools, recruited qualified and experienced teachers, strengthened school security, established modern skill acquisition centres, and built a Tech Innovation Hub where our young people can gain practical skills alongside their formal education.
These investments reflect our belief that every child deserves access to quality education in an environment that inspires learning, creativity, and excellence.
I was humbled by the kind words shared by Mr. Onakoya Onayemi, the Education Secretary of Shomolu LGEA, who spoke about my longstanding commitment to service. I also appreciate the confidence expressed by the Education Secretaries and reaffirm my commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen education across our communities.
Together, we will continue to invest in our children, empower our teachers, and build an education system that prepares the next generation to lead, innovate, and succeed.
The future of Agege begins in our classrooms, and we will continue to invest in it.

LAWMA STEPS UP WASTE EVACUATION EFFORTS, ASSURES RESIDENTS OF IMPROVED SERVICE DELIVERY
The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has reassured residents of the State that comprehensive measures are being implemented to improve waste evacuation across Lagos, as government intensifies efforts to strengthen operational efficiency, expand waste management infrastructure, and enhance environmental sanitation.
- Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin acknowledged the operational challenges affecting waste evacuation in some parts of the State and assured residents that the government was actively implementing immediate, medium-term, and long-term solutions to improve service delivery.
- Recent operational pressures were partly linked to challenges associated with access to disposal facilities, particularly during the peak of the rainy season.
- The LAWMA's waste-to-wealth partner, ZoomLion Nigeria Limited, had commenced preliminary works to stabilise and reopen Road E at the Olusosun facility, a critical intervention expected to improve access, reduce turnaround time, and enhance operational efficiency at the site.
- LAWMA has resuscitated and optimised the use of Transfer Loading Stations (TLSs) across the State as a stop-gap measure to facilitate quicker evacuation of waste from communities while ongoing infrastructure improvements continued.
- LAWMA is taking steps to support the acquisition of additional waste collection vehicles by PSP operators, adding that the expected deployment of 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) compactor trucks would significantly boost waste evacuation capacity across Lagos, while 10 new compactor trucks donated by the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Board had already been deployed to strengthen waste collection operations.
- Inter-state collaboration to complement existing waste disposal infrastructure, improve operational flexibility, and support more efficient waste evacuation across Lagos State.
- Ongoing construction of new Transfer Loading Stations at Olusosun and Solous III and other modern solutions for recovery, waste diversion, and other sustainable waste-to-resource initiatives.
- Dr. Gbadegesin urged residents to continue to patronise approved PSP operators, avoid indiscriminate waste disposal, and support ongoing government efforts to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment.
- He reassured residents that the current operational challenges were being actively addressed and that service levels would improve progressively as the various interventions took effect.

Dear Lagosians,
I have directed an immediate scale-up of waste evacuation across Lagos following the recent build-up of refuse in some parts of our state.
LAWMA, LASEPA, and the Ministry of Environment are currently working around the clock. We have deployed extra trucks and personnel to clear the backlogs across all affected neighbourhoods. You should already see progress on the streets and we will not stop until our city is completely clean again.
Lagos generates over 13,000 tons of waste every single day. Managing this requires a massive effort but our determination to fix the current challenge is absolute.
As we continue this cleanup, I ask for your partnership. Please bag your waste properly and avoid dumping refuse in drainage channels or on the roads.
We are fully on top of this situation. Let us work together to keep Lagos clean and safe for everyone.
Football brings people together, and Agege is ready for another exciting World Cup night!
Join fellow football lovers as England take on Croatia. Let’s enjoy the game, celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, and continue building stronger community bonds through sport.
