In 1971, Wisse and her family left their comfortable lives in Montreal to live in Israel. They lasted 1 year, btwn everyone’s horrible manners and the much poorer quality of life. She felt guilty about leaving and dedicated her life to propagandizing for Israel in North America.
ppl think Europeans endorsed the founding of Israel as reparations for the Holocaust. nope. the Balfour Declaration-the British doc that promised to deliver a zionist state in Palestine was written in 1917. Israel was always a settler outpost. the Holocaust as alibi came later 1/
@GumptionAndCo The words country, state, and nation are not entirely interchangeable in my mind. I think countries and nations should have rights to exist, depending on the circumstance, but not states.
Denying Israel's right to exist is good and moral. More Canadians should openly and plainly deny that any state - especially a settler colony and an ethnostate - has any right to exist. It isn't antisemitic to say so. Canada and other settler colonies shouldn't exist either.
Antisemitism is a major & growing problem in Canada, & a blight on our democratic health. Criticism of Israeli policies is legitimate & necessary. But attacks on Jewish Canadians simply because of their religion or the denial of Israel's right to exist is bigoted and idiotic.
@Israel1Canada@GumptionAndCo You should genuinely seek a mental health evaluation if you think Jewish people are more oppressed and in greater danger than Indigenous, Black, or even Muslim people in Canada.
Funny. All I hear about is antisemitism, antisemitism is everywhere... and all I SEE every day is a deep and institutional hatred of Muslims, and wanton hate and neglect of Black, Brown and Indigenous communities in Canada.
Isn't that funny?
What did that famous book say, "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command"
Because literally anybody who has been paying attention for *looks at watch* decades can see the tremendous amount of effort put in by Zionists to deliberately and purposefully conflate criticism of Israel with antisemitism. The IHRA definition of antisemitism, for example.
Canada’s village idiot was on @CNN lamenting the number of Muslims in the country. He claims these new immigrants are taught to hate Jews in school. Look at his use of the word “We.” You’re such a racist piece of shit Jesse Brown 💩.
We’re in final stage of capitalism where global capital can’t expand or sustain past profits. It’s now consuming public institutions and key systems, sacrificing democracy, welfare, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and ecosystems for short-term gain.
The only thing wrong with this is that it takes away too much agency from the Americans. Everything Israel is doing is consistent with long-term US foreign policy objectives. The US doesn't need to be "controlled" by Israel but that doesn't mean they can't be manipulated either.
“It’s not antisemitic to criticize Israel”
Meanwhile the criticism:
“Child-murdering Israel controls Congress through AIPAC and the Epstein Class, is forcing America into yet another endless Mideast war, and is the reason you can’t afford gas or healthcare”
Communists' understanding that infinite growth is impossible is not due to any silly pop science, but the observation that Capitalism contradicts itself and therefore creates conditions for its own collapse. We also know that a car running out of gas will not infinitely move.
Didn't read the book.
Capitalism is based on the ridiculous notion that dispossessing people of their means of survival can be consensual and voluntary and morally good.
Nothing says liberty like the mute compulsion of starving to death because you won't make someone else money
Capitalism is actually based on the ridiculous notion that production and exchange should be consensual and voluntary.
In philosophy, such behavior is called ‘morality’.
Marx would, of course, reject this entire framing.
Capitalism is not “based on” a moral commitment to voluntary exchange. The task of critique is precisely to distinguish the system’s self-understanding from its actual social constitution.
The Hippocratic oath. But only if you support Israel. Zionist doctors showing themselves to Canadians. Reminds me of when Dr. Thea Weissdorf famously told @UofT students “I hope you never need healthcare from UofT.”
